SN: Predictions of Theory
Previously “normal” star suddenly (~few days) becomes MUCH more luminous (~1010 L_sun), fades over months/years
Surrounding ISM should be disturbed by exploding matter, disturbance should grow
Neutron stars or black holes should be found in or near supernova remnants (SNR)
Neutrinos should be emitted during a SN as electrons and protons combine to form neutrons
Elements heavier than Fe (iron) should be present in the spectra of supernovae
