Distance and Direction of Galaxy Center

• Globular Cluster distribution gives us direction of Galaxy center

• Once calibrated (used a clever statistical technique) the Period-Luminosity relation of Cepheids allowed a measurement of distance to GCs => Galaxy center at ~ 8.5 kpc

• Of course, the direction to the Galaxy Center would have been obvious if we saw with Infrared eyes!
