• SPHEROID:

  • HALO:
    • thinly scattered stars, globular clusters
    • ~40 kpc across – not much dust
    • Little star formation => cool, red stars
  • CENTRAL BULGE:
    • ~2 kpc, slightly flattened
    • Dense cloud of stars around center
    • Old, cool stars, not much dust
  • CORONA
    • Dark Matter (more later)
