• A planet or moon (environments like ours require it)

• Hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, various metals.

• Liquid water (cells like ours need it to function)

• An energy source (hydrothermal or solar)

• Maybe all that is really necessary for any type of life are #2, #4, and some sort of liquid.
