  • Observe radial velocity of other galaxies: find sun moving ~ 220 km/s in a particular direction
  • One orbit will last 240 million yrs!

• Distance from Sun to Center of Galaxy ~ 8.5 kpc

• Combine these =>

• Mass = 100 billion x mass of sun!
