I've been trying to connect to the server (WITH a valid ID) for the past 2 days. Every time I try to connect, I get an error message: BOINC failed to log in to http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. Please check your account ID and try again. OK, so maybe there is a problem with the server; but SURELY someone should post a message or SOMETHING indicating that there is a problem. Instead, everyone posts questions and there are NO answers. In any project, it is important to keep the participants informed. That is not happening here. This saddens me as the project was well managed up to this point. Now it seems that it is beginning to fall apart. I suggest a server status page that is updated more than once a month, and which contains USEFUL information. |

If there are no workunits to distribute seemingly you can make no valid connection. i.e. kind of all or nothing situation...Probably due to overload. Switch back to Seti@Home Classic for a week or so. They should inform us in a better way of what's going on. Greetings ;) |

That kinda makes sense. Even if it means that the handling of the situation isn't great. Thanks for the info - makes me feel a little less like blowing BOINC up now :) Totally convinced. (Maybe) No, really I am - they are out there. Somewhere. |

Hmmm - about to answer my own question - well, in part anyway. I've found that the URL sent to me was incorrect. I was sent http://setiathome.berkeley.edu instead, it seems that it should be http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah Using the first URL (the one that was e-mailed to me) doesn't work. I keep getting a message that I must check my account ID and try again. However, using the SECOND url (http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah) allows me to connect and get data for processing. It seems that there are some crossed lines somewhere. I hope this helps someone else out there. Totally convinced. (Maybe) No, really I am - they are out there. Somewhere. |

But if you used copy and paste, leading and trailing spaces can be added to the url, and BOINC doesn't like that. ![]() |

If the problem is with my typing, then I don't understand why it works when I used the second URL. Something is very strange in SETI-town. (And I am mostly sure it ain't me) :) Totally convinced. I had this happen to me yesterday as well the newer setiathome url does indeed give invalid ID responces but the setiboinc url works, something is indeed screwy with those url's Mythrall. |

I thought that I was going nuts for a while! :) Actually - I tried the setiboinc url as an act of desparation, and the fact that it worked made me think that it was just a fluke. However, if it is working for you too, then there must be an overlap somewhere in one or more of the databases. Oh well, so long as I get wu's to process, I am quite happy. I just wish that someone involved in the project would let us know what is going on, rather than letting the inmates run the asylum! :) ------------------------------------- Totally convinced. With the changes they must be doing in the servers, maybe someone changed the URL and nobody noticed :-( http://setiathome.berkeley.edu When I changed the account in 23 June, the URL above worked :-/ Maybe they should get someone to be moderator of the foruns... ![]() Professor Desty Nova -Researching Karma the Hard Way- |

I had the same problem with a pc at work I tried to enroll. Actually I had it for several days, BUT today I finally succeded in enrolling it and got 6 WU's. After reading other questions on this board, then I'm pretty sure that it happens when you try to enroll a new pc, and there's NO work available. I think that you should try again now, as it seems as if there are plenty of wu's right now. |
