Err, only on of my machines is workless right now, since it has decided not to contact the server for 2 days 16 hours and some odd minutes??!?!!? CAn this be overridden ? Or do I just turn the dumb thing off for two days. I'd like to have 2 days of work, even if that particular machine is a slag heap...

Since it's a Windows machine, what you can try is shut down the BOINC client for 15 to 20 minutes, then start it again. Run a manual update if it insists on waiting for 2 days.

If that doesn't work, the easiest thing to do is the reset of your project. That may give you a new host ID, but those can be merged later on.

I don't suppose anyone can tell me how to run a manual update on the WinGui version....?

On the windows GUI, go to the projects tab.. Right click on Seti, and select update.

This does seem to be a bug in the code, as there should be a "max" for the retry (2-3 hours?). I saw one log where it wouldn't automatically retry for over a week!

Mayhaps next time I should READ the entire FAQ instead of skimming it =)

You shouldn't need the FAQ if the software had been written "user friendly"

Heck, they even have a "Boinc Bible"! The FAQ is just the highlights that tell us why UCB is right and the user base is wrong!
