When attaching to a project BOINC treats the no work available result as an error, and removes the newly attached project. This makes it difficult to set up a new machine when the server has no work, which seems to be a fairly common occurence currently.

That could be because it cannot register the computer on the server, not get a host ID etc. So it detaches itself until the client can communicate with the server.

It got a host ID and connected to the server well enough to get the actual project name. The only problem was that the server had no work. That should not prevent the attachment process. It should still update all of the various parameters and complete the attachment. Then the system can go into the periodic request for work mode.

Yeah I have the same problem.
It's quite annoying, because now we have to keep trying to add the project until there is work available.
