Hi
I run zonealarm firewall. BOINC asked for sever rights during its installation. I allowed this to happen and then revoked server rights.
Everything works fine so far, but I haven't finished my first unit yet.
Question:
BOINC can still access the internet as it pleases but does not have server rights.
Do I have to give it server rights?
From my limited knowledge of PC's I always thought and read that this was a bad idea.
Excuse my ignorance....

No, it doesn't need server rights. I've always run it with server rights blocked, and never had a problem. :)

The server rights have to do with the CLI-GUI combo client that will be comming out later. It will not hurt anything to disable it now provided you are not using a remote monitoring add on (BOINCspy?, BOINCveiw? not sure which one can do the remote thing).
