Message 2149757 - Posted: 11 Jun 2025, 21:52:52 UTC

Now that it's brightened up enough under this heavily overcast sky I can see that our 2nd frost of the year is a beauty.

The only thing is that I should've grabbed that other exhaust fan while I was downstairs as it's just 3C down there and I can't see the solar heating system doing much again today, but once I've moved these 9 stacks out of the way it may have warmed up a bit more.

Now to get another hot coffee into me to thaw out after that very short excursion outside of this 18C enclosure with it now -1C (feels like -4C outside.

Cheers.

What about snow up there on that highland range?

The curious thing is, I'm living in the 'apartment below', not those who complain. Strange.

I know the feeling. I never had a noise complaint on me. But the two flats above me are a different story. I have an older woman directly above that plays music a little loud sometimes. Luckily like her music selection. The other above and diagonal was a thunderous stampede of foot traffic at all hours. I was happy when they moved and a quiet person moved in. The building is a bit old and has some floor joists that groaned so I knew when someone was up walking. The only real “complaint” was when the woman above me moved somewhere else from where she watched television. I’m using an indoor television antenna and the signal quality dropped. I figure she was in the right spot to improve my television reception.

I finally got that exhaust fan replaced and my brewroom (come kitchen) put back in order after stripping half of it out just to get to that bugger. That 1 was in place for 22yrs while the bathroom job has now been replaced twice in that time so before I close the roof cavity up I installed a moisture shield to protect it from condensation falling from above while still letting it do its job.

It's now 4C (feels like 2C).

Anyhow I might as well get an extra coffee in after all that effort.

Cheers.

Reminds me of my late grandma who had a neighbour, an old widow woman who had a career as a professional piano player. Retired in her then small appartment she still owned a large piano that must have occupied much space in her living room. She still loved to frequently play wounderful classic music, especially on sundays before lunch. All neighbours loved that too supposedly.

But on the other days there were also these young girls and boys visiting her…. She still gave piano lessons even as a 80+ years old.

Urks, always the same repeated sequences that sound so awful, somehow wrong, amelodic, out of tune; a true torture for everyone listening. ;-)

It may not have been as windy as yesterday here, but with all the cloud about we only just managed to get to 7C (felt like 2C) today while it's now 5C (feels like 1C) with -6C expected in the morning.

Cheers.

It won't be quite as warm in Hungary as it will in Bavaria... comfy... Have fun!

In the southwest, along the German-French border and up to Frankfurt, the first heatwave of the season is looming, with temperatures reaching 36°C (97F) this weekend. Phew...

P.O.E.T.S. Day got off to a very frosty -5C (felt like -8C) start with a max of 10C expected again, I just hope that we can get closer to it today than yesterday's attempt at it.

Well I'm about out of milk so by the time that I finish this coffee the supermarket will be open, but I'm not looking forward to going outside ATM.

Cheers.

We're off to a frosty -3C (felt like -5C) start here with 14C expected, but at least it should be a sunny day and I should be able to get a bit of work done outside today.

Anyhow it's time to turn the kettle on.

Cheers.

Well 13C (felt like 10C) was the best that we could do here today while the mercury has already pulled into Frostville at 0C (feels like -2C) with -2C expected, though I have a feeling that it'll go lower than that.

At least these frosts have now finally put a stop to the rampant grass growth.

Cheers.

The people in Greenland enjoy the same phenomenom, all year long. FIFA allowed them artificial turf for their intl. soccer matches.

So you have to decide what you prefer: rampant grass growth or a somewhat chilly climate... ;-)

I can report that it's a bit chilly outside with another good frost on the ground as we wait for the mercury to move off it's 4C (felt like 7C) start for today with 13C expected.

Now it's time for a nice big hot cup of coffee to thaw out with.

Cheers.
