Well I didn't have enough charge in my line trimmer to finish its part of the backyard today, but 20mins tomorrow morning with it will finish its job, while 1hr on the maniac BushRanger in path edging mode took care of all the paths and mowstrips around the whole place. That's better than the 4 days that it took me the last time and I hope that it doesn't get that bad again. Tomorrow, seeing as that cyclone will take a bit longer to make landfall (if it does at all), I'll drop the mower down a notch and I should be able to do the whole backyard on 1 tank of fuel in a morning instead of 2 tanks over 2 days. The temp reached 26C (felt like 24C) today, but it's now to 19C (feels like 17C) on the way down to an expected 13C. Anyhow I guess that I'd better think of something for dinner to take a special back pill with. Cheers. |

... Back in the Food Desert... So... Must rush an order to get parts from China before any (tariffs) disruption hits. ... And to sort out a few other things before we disconnect from the USA. ... And I was hoping for a quietly productive week?! Have fun? See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Yum, yum! Chicken noodle soup. Homemade with love. Deboned and cut up a rotisserie chicken. Put it in homemade broth with chopped celery and onion. Seasoned to your taste and finish with noodles boiled to perfection. ![]() ![]() |

Today kicked off here at kicked off here at 15C (felt like 13C) and we're now up to and we have reached our expected 25C (feels like 22C) as the clouds quickly build up. I finished off line trimming the backyard and then running the more over the whole lot this morning with only 4.5 catcher loads collected. Now after a shower to wash the dust off and a few beers I reckon that I'm ready for some lunch before I take a well needed spinal reset. Cheers. |

... Back in the Food Desert... Hmmmmm....... Chinese chicken soup??? Well, I've had the "real" stuff in China, and it's basically thin water with a sort of generic (probably artificial) "chicken" flavour. More nutritional value in the bowl than the contents.... Hmmmmm.......Haha... That's exactly what I think every time in one of our few traditional Chinese restaurants... Nothing against, e.g. Peking duck, which is fantastic, ... but these water soups??? [EDIT:] forum server is a bit slow and unresponsive today. |

Up early on a Hump Day morning where it's 16C (feels like 12C) with 23C expected along with more cyclone Alfred effects as it heads towards the coast. Anyhow I better have a coffee or 2 before I head off into town in the hope of a dry run. Cheers. |

Bright sunshine but by 'eck, that's a cold Arctic breeze... ... For... A surprisingly slow day. Where is everyone? Or did word get out that I was onsite? See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

At least that wind has died off for the moment as the cloudy sky lightens up, but I don't expect that to last for long and I better batten the hatches down here before I leave just in case more than drizzle falls. Anyhow before I do that I might as well have another coffee. Cheers. |

... by 'eck, that's a cold Arctic breeze... By 'eck, the jet stream over here has bifurcated! Do we get Eddy to do a twirl and twist? Or do we get treated to a full Vortex?? See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Today, here in South Fort Worth Texas I got woke up at few minutes past 5 am by my Weather radio alarm going off. Was a tornado warning and my location was in striking distance and less than 5 miles from where the radar spotted possible rotating clouds... Grabbed my Weather radio and headed to the interior bathroom for cover until the storm passed about 15 minutes later. Luckily, no tornado was confirmed and damage in my neighborhood was just a little hail and lots of straight line winds peaking to 79 miles per hour. Not quite 3 miles away to the Northwest they had trees, fences and a few trampolines damaged from the wind. |

The weather forecast is for "chilly overnight". Yep. We've got that already... At least the next frontal system is nicely northwards and out of the way... So far. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying an escape from the mayhem! See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Winning now that I'm home from a morning in town. Is Martin shouting again or did someone's post get removed? Anyhow it's now 21C (feels like 16C) as that cyclone edges closer and I'm ready for a spinal reset. I may even catch up on a bit of that sleep that I missed out on this morning. Cheers. |

The temp reached 23C (felt like 19C) here today before a lite drizzle returned and now showers are joining in, but at least the wind has died down to a stiff breeze, as it's currently 17C (feels like 15C) on the way to 15C. That cyclone is also still approaching the coast, but it's taking its time about getting there so people are getting extra time to get prepared for it. Anyhow I'm just trying to stay awake a bit longer before I close 1 more window and fall into bed. Cheers. |

Just curious... do you just name them cyclone instead of hurricane? Is there a different name for Pacific cyclones in NSW than the ones in the Indian Ocean which hit Western Australia? |

Here is the NOAA page on "What is the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon?" Cyclone is a generic term. Hurricane, typhoon, or tropical cyclone, depending upon where the storm originates. They are all rotational winds which you want to avoid when sailing. |
