Good morning from icy South Forth Worth Texas metroplex. Current temperature is 34 F with a misty freezing rain. They say it will turn to snow later this afternoon or early evening with 1 - 2 inches to stick.

Good to hear you still have a place to live Gary.

Seen some of the pictures and video of the devastation in the Los Angeles area. Nothing left but brick/stone chimneys and smoldering ashes most places. Malibu, California gone!

Posting on a P.O.E.T.S Day morning as the sun is about to rise and the jug is about to boil and it's 14C with 23C expected before more of that falling wet stuff is due.

Cheers.

Still snowing here. Forecast is adding more snow accumulation to 4 inches. Wondering how much more before this ends?

Good to hear you are ok Gary.
Last night was crazy. A close friend of mine manages the Magic Castel which was within a mile of the Sunset Fire. I was keeping him informed most of the night.

My veggies have been watered, my last week's yard clothes are having good soaking after a prewash and I finally pulled and tugged that sheet of reo-mesh (a couple of inches at a time) right into the back corner of the side fence and further secured it to the fence.

We also enjoyed a morning of magpie warbles without the loud squawks of black cockatoos for a change, that was until I went outside and 1 just happened to pick that moment to fly over blasting out it's noise for all to hear.

Anyhow it's now at a muggy 21C and I might as well get my last coffee of the morning in.

Cheers.

Of my cars 4 wheels, 1 valve stem cap was missing, ok, so I ordered 20 in Green.
I thought 'green' valve stem caps indicate nitrogen fill... eventually confusing for repair shops...

I was just east of Downtown LA at work and everyone's phone went off with evacuate now. Some joker sent the alert to the entire county and then they took forever to send out a oops. Now I hear this morning at they have done another bad alert. Several someones at OES need to lose their jobs.

Key points about the valve stem cap colors:
Green: Nitrogen-filled tire
Black/Silver: Regular air-filled tire
Red: Indicates the presence of balancing beads within the tire
Purple: Is a vanity color it means the driver likes purple.
Clear or transparent: solid rubber tire no air required.

Gary, I heard about the alarm. My understanding is that it was caused by a typo. Someone entered the code wrong and the alarm was automatic. That's what the Chief of LA County Fire is reporting.

Sleet throughout the day at 1C (34F), feels like -4 C (25F) and a moderate breeze. Sun set at 4:14pm. A typical winter day… too warm and too wet.

But luckily: no wildfires…

Cheers.

Snow clouds have passed. Snow total was 5.5 inches in my area. It is suspected to get to 35 degrees in a few hours then go back in freezing zone. Lots of blue sky.

Posting as the sun tries to rise over the coastal clouds on a Sunday morning that got off to a 15C (felt like 14C) start with 24C expected before the wet returns.

Time to turn that kettle on.

Cheers.

Today's weather was a little strange.
"Dawn" had a fair dose of fog, which hung around until the afternoon, the temperature crawled up to -3 (from -5) during the morning. There was a strange "snow fall" - flakes about 1mm across drifting on what little breeze there was. Then the Sun started to struggle into being and the temperature crawled above zero just before sunset. The sky now features scattered cloud, and the temperature is above zero......

What will tomorrow bring?

Reno and the western Great Basin is having great weather. Currently, our temps are ranging from 17f to 45f. Light jacket weather. I was just outside on the patio reading for a while.
