I've had my space raccoon as part of my sig file for a long time. Lately, I've noticed it's missing. I haven't changed anything. I just checked my settings and everything looks okay, but the space raccoon pic is still missing. If I put the URL from my profile into the (Firefox) address line, the pic comes up. But it's still missing from my sig. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Thanks in advance.

(Tried to post the pic here using img tags. Failed.)

Here's the URL: http://www.zannpix.com/raccoonspaceseti.png
Copy and paste into the address line and it comes up.

It is possible that zannpix have stopped allowing the use of pictures hosted on their site on sites not hosted by them.

The domain zannpix.com offers HTTP access as well as SSL (HTTPS). If using 'https' a self signed server certificate is offered by zannpix.com. Many web server configurations (supposedly also setiathome) deny embedded images from classic HTTP (non-SSL) links for security reasons. But as soon as SSL is enforced automaticely to embed the picture, zanpix.com only offers its selfsigned server certificate which setiathome server supposedly rejects.

e.g. try to access via HTTPS: https://www.zannpix.com/raccoonspaceseti.png and read the details of the pop-up security warning.

I fear you have to look for another hosting site for your racoon pic which offers SSL (https://...) with a globally valid server certificate.

Hmmm, I switched off signatures in preferences years ago..... Switched them back on. Cool, there's your space racoon. (I use Firefox)

Maybe it depends on your browser too? Some have more strict security requirements than others. You may want to try different ones?

I see it he “Space Raccoon” sig.
It may be you sometimes accidentally swipe the no sig square. I do that more than I care to admit. It is easy to do.

I can see it if i open it in a new tab, but it's just a small image placeholder under your name in the post, and using the right click "Load image" on it doesn't do anything (same for the Admiral- it's not there in the post, but opens OK in a new tab).

Admiral is showing, except for his incorrect ID from the stats.

And for this post my .sig should show.

Suzie, find somewhere else free to host your raccoon sig. Download/save the the image to your PC, then once you find a free service upload the image, then update your sig info anywhere you use it with new url.

There's several problems with the website certification (see below for details):
1) Certificate is registered to a different website.
2) Certificate is expired - almost 3 years ago!
3) Certificate is untrusted because of #1 - belongs to a different website.

Doing a domain registry lookup on https://whois.domaintools.com/zannpix.com shows 318 domains hosted on the same IP address of 50.63.7.163. Nothing alarming there. The web hosting service just has lots of website on that one address, similar to what any web hosting service does.

The Raccoons above that aren't showing (other than in a new tab/window).

Then I wouldn't be seeing the broken image thing, which indicates that something goes there but it is missing. It is not missing.

I use Firefox.
And i'm using Edge.
A lot of browsers now will no longer show sites that only use HTTP; in this case i can load the image in another window, but it will not load within the forum.

Your BOINC Stats image link properties show it as HTTP, however it does display in the forum & when i look at the source, in my browser it opens with HTTPS- not the HTTP shown in it's properties.

It's as Scrooge Mcduck said- there is an issue with it's security certificate, so it can't use HTTPS for it's connection, and most (probably all) current browsers won't allow a non-secure connection within a secure connection.
And if you do try to use HTTPS, then you get this error
The requested URL was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

For firefox go to settings > Privacy and Security > HTTPS-Only Mode and set off. Magic.

HTTPS-Only is switched off in my Firefox settings. I can't remember ever actively turning it off. So, I can see the racoon below each of Suzie's posts.

I’m using SAFARI. So unless I have a low bandwidth problem I can see it all.
