I don't think so Martin unless it's 3C (feels like -1C) with the wind starting to pick up and a constant misty drizzle.

I'm still thawing out after my 9am trip out to the rain gauge in which there was just 0.5mm recorded.

Well it finally looks like I got through my 1st night here without having my stitches leaking. Yep they didn't after taking the dressing off and having a look, but I'll be very happy when they come out instead of putting up with their constant tugging for the simplest of movements.

Oh well I might as well have another extra coffee this morning too.

Cheers.

Well I got through a few lite domestic jobs today without springing a leak this time and though I still have several other things to do yet, but I'm not going to press my luck any further.

Anyhow without that gale blowing like yesterday I got my unit from 16C up to 19C including the bathroom which was down to 10C early this morning and while we reached 4C (felt like 0C) the wind has since arrived making it feel like -0C now (and that wind should pick up a bit further yet). It's nice today getting around without an extra layer on compared to yesterday.

Cheers.

The dealer wants $11,945.00 and the car is carfax approved, to me I like the color and the new battery, not to mention the range, 259 vs 61 miles so far, odometer mileage is 56,580,
I assume both cars, yours and the Bolt, are years old used cars. So, the battery is used to. What was the original mileage of these two different cars (Bolt and yours) when they where new (manufacturer information)?

We made it to 5C (felt like 0C) here today, but once that wind dropped off the drizzle returned.

Cheers.

62f currently and expecting a high of 95f.
My little 2013 Votl hybrid only had a 30-mile range when new. But it still has that 30-mile range 11 years and 220,000 miles later,

That's what I asked. Impressive that you don't see age degradation after 11 years. It seems battery tech became quite robust and reliable today.

To the opposite. I think the latest generation of our cheaper ICE cars with modern fuel-efficient, light (aluminum) petrol engines (in Europe: typically turbo-charged, direct injection, downsized ones with three or four cylinders; engine displacement: 1.0 to 1.4 liters = 34 ... 47 fl.oz.). These are no longer as solid as the previous, heavier and less fuel efficient generation of classic engine designs. They won't reach 150,000 miles before an engine overhaul is required which means: economic write-off.

I agree. I have worked on some more modern ICE engines and can not believe that they run at all. Engineers are pushing the limits of material science.
As for the Volt, I think the key is battery management. The battery stops charging at 80% of capacity. The user never knows this. It also only discharges to 30%. That is the point that the meter reads zero charge and the engine kicks in. I periodically test the leads to know more accurately what is going on. They also prioritize keeping the batteries within a certain thermal range. I found that out with our 110+ degree days. It seems that the cabin AC turns in to a supplemental battery cooling system when the air temp exceeds 105. In other words, when the weather gets hot, the occupants get even hotter.

Exactly. But engineers were forced to do so by their bosses. And car manufacturers are forced to reduce avg fleet consumption due to political legislation. So they did everything possible to reduce fuel consumption (which is good). But engine durability clearly is no longer an engineering goal.

I think that may be by design. It keeps weeding out older vehicles in favor of a newer one on the road.

After a 3C (felt like -0C) start here today, along with a misty drizzle, things have improved in 1 direction, but some have gone in the other, because the sun is finally starting to show its face as that wind arrived again so we're now at 5C (feels like 0C).

I really don't want to go out there, but I need to go to the post office to pay a bill.

At least the pub will have its fire going so that I can thaw out half way back.

In the meantime I'll just have another coffee was I work myself up to doing it.

BTW I've got through 24hrs without a dressing on my hand with no leakages, but I'll still be glad to lose these annoyingly pulling stitches tomorrow (even if I have to put up with dressings for a day or 2 more).

Cheers.

Well we made it to 7C (felt like 3C) before the dampness set back in and started the mercury going backwards again. A bit short of our expected 9C.

Cheers.

Sorry Wiggo, we're basking in a spectacular 25degC plus blazing sunshine.

Meanwhile...

Unfortunately we've failed a survey... Ooooer...

More work needed on that one!

It‘s a nice warm evening here. I’m out of the city in a village. Only some planes descending to Berlin airport are disturbing the silence.

Well it was good that I had my stitches out and 15mins later stepping back out on the footpath. :-)

What was bad was that I had to turn straight around and go back in as I was leaking blood in my usual fashion yet again. :-(

Now it has 6 butterfly sutures across it and yet another dressing on again. ;-)

Sadly I have to go back into town on Tuesday morning now to see how it goes. :-(

But a few beers and grabbing a feed up at the pub helped out a bit while it being a sunny, but windy, 10C (feels like 5C) helps out a bit more.

Cheers.

I know what you are saying Wiggo.
My stitches were bleeding for weeks..
I had to see the doc every 2 days.

I had a feeling Mike that I was going to have problems with it as trying to stretch old skin to cover up where a 17mm dia. patch of it was removed.

Thankfully it wasn't cancerous, probably some weird bacterial infection instead.

Anyhow it's now down to 1C (feels like -2C) and I reckon that it's time to go and snuggle down in bed.

Cheers.
