The steel cart has been set outside under my carport with two taped down notes, and I texted the manager about my free give away that I don't have room for anymore in 106F heat outside, inside is still a relatively cool 82. I just got in from harvesting the 2 rows of carrots in my huge wicking tub and got about 5-6kg worth which wasn't a bad haul. I'll see if on Friday (after the rain tomorrow) I can give the tub a rejuve before putting 4-5 rows in this time. Anyhow it must be time now for a LLB. Cheers. |

I still have boxes to cut up and take to the trash, yesterday I took 3 bags of trash to the dumpster via my car, I'm too heavy to hoof it and the temp was about 105F. Today a wheeled metal 2 shelf microwave cart went outside under the car port, hopefully someone will take it away. I drove my GF to get some food, she has no car, said she was starving. I worked on my budget for July, which until the rent bill total amount is known is just a guesstimate. Oh and I picked up my mail which was a piece of named junk mail and a bathroom faucet donated by my niece Becky. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The first summer heat has arrived. We get three days just above 30°C/86F... no clouds. Eventually small, weak thunderstorms in the evening (more like 'thunder' than 'storm'... that's why we call it "Gewitter"). Then around 27°C/80F at the weekend. Next week we are back at bearable temps with a maximum of 20°C/68F or even below that. A remarkable event happened just one week ago near Gröditz on the border between Saxony and Brandenburg. A strong thunderstorm with an exceptionally large supercell slowly moved across the region. Extremely strong downdrafts occurred. The weather service analysed data and reported more than 140 km/h; 87mph. They believe no tornado was involved but downdrafts only. Countless old trees were uprooted, roofs blown off, cars crushed (from roofing tiles). All within a small area with a diameter of a few kilometers. It was remarkable because 17 high-voltage pylons (380 kilovolts) were knocked down (bend, not broken). Two lines with two systems each (approx. 2x1000 MW and 2x 750 MW) were destroyed. No falling trees involved. Repairs will take a long time. Something like this never happened in summer before. Many years ago in winter some pylons of a 380 kV line collapsed in Münsterland (NRW) when overhead lines were heavy with an exceptionally thick load of wet snow and ice. The cause back then were the 80-years old pylons with unsuitable, brittle steel (Thomasstahl*), a known but ignored defect. Now in summer only due to a thunderstorm... strange. Well, these pylons also were certainly 60 years old, but there are no known weaknesses with this pylon type from socialist GDR, and they were definitely not rusty. * In German we simply call it "Thomasstahl": "Thomas' steel"; made using the outdated Gilchrist–Thomas process. |

About a 20-degree temp swing is expected today. Low of 68 and a high of 88. We had some unexpected thunderstorms. That's what you get for washing your car. |

Got to love global warming. Thanks for that. It's clearly a new weather phenomenon for us. Temperature at the time of occurence 2024-06-18 18:45 was 27°C/81F; a warm but not hot day. The latest analysis says downdraft reached at least 180 km/h (112mph). Small tornadoes occured here in the past (all 10 or 15 years) damaging minor areas in forests or blow down roofs but never steel pylons of high voltage lines. Normally, It requires meteorologists to carry out damage analyses on site (direction of falling trees, movement of objects) in order to discern tornadoes from downdrafts, as these are so short-lived, small-scale; their damage pattern difficult to distinguish. |

Mission Accomplished, the steel microwave cart I put out yesterday is now GONE. I still need to work on some boxes to take to the trash in my car. I put two plastic outlet protectors on an outlet in the living room after moving a lamp and a 25w usb charger into the kitchen. Outside temp is 107F, inside at my desk is 82, the low was 80 at 6am PT, a high of 108 is predicted here for today. CNN has a debate on Thursday at 9pm ET or 6pm PT, I think they will be on youtube live. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

Ok I got all the boxes that were ready for the trash bin all taken out, then as I was dragging the box to my car, I get some help who says they can take it. Today I got notice and a rent receipt from the park when I went outside to take the boxes to the bin, the notice pertains mainly to peoples cats and a few other things like trash in trash bags, the park is having a stray cat problem, which I can't do anything about, the park at one time a few months back asked if I could fix my homes skirts that they damaged with their string trimmers. I have to replace 4 tires before winter, plus install 2 toilets, a vanity, a water heater, fix the floors in here in my kitchen, clothes washing/hallway, and rear bathroom, cause of water damage, plus I need to buy another 5 gallons of White paint to go along with the 5 gallons that are here to repaint the outside, plus either work on the fridges condensation leak which I've reduced to a drip here and there by adjusting the dial inside to warmer from halfway between there and cold or replace the 19yr old fridge, I know how much Amazon charges for skirting and this is to deny stray cats a home under my home that I have a deed for and pay taxes on every year. It says in the notice: "If you have permission from me to have cats, please bring me proof from your vet that they have been spayed or neutered and keep them inside your home." Since I own my home I don't feel I need the parks permission to have cats in my home, I own it, not them and they have damaged my home with their string trimmers and I have lived in this space since late 2006 and I took pics when the home was installed under a county building permit which cost me $293.00 back then. Management needs to edit that and run it past a lawyer, tenants are one thing, residents of which I am are another thing. My rent is going up in September to $420 from $390 as it has for at least the last 2 years and will continue to climb in 3 years to $510 a month, that's a $30 a month increase. I wonder if I could afford a convertible construction loan? With the right price, probably. Can I afford the rent? Yes. Which can buy land which I have two options, both of which I don't own, and move my home and such and convert to a mortgage and the price of a 20.22 acre piece of land, plus about $10,000,00 each for a water well and a septic system if the property doesn't have either, though there is a property nearby on the other side of the freeway that has a well and septic cause it has a ruined house on it, planning would have to give me a permit since most places are not as new as my home and is older than 10 years as it was built in 1987, the owners want $139,900.00 for it too and it's on Yermo Rd in Yermo CA. I know this since I had to move my home once, but ran out of money to go beyond the park in late 2006, in Nov I will have lived here for 18 years, 20 in Yermo CA.. So far the CAPSBC paperwork has not shown up and I've been to the Post Office where I had to pick up a 4" bathroom faucet for the vanity. The first lot that I'm watching is listed at $139,900.00 and has been on the market for 590 days, the second lot is a 2.72 acre piece has been up for 115 days and is $28,000.00. Tear down, moving, and setup is about $10,000.00 I know this as I've been kicking this around for years. The land look like it needs 2 new power poles from the street and last I asked would cost about $15,000.00 each. This is the land for $139,900.00... Thoughts on these two properties? Property taxes are 1% of the value, the second says is $29.00 a year for taxes, the other doesn't say, both are near paved roads. Or this lot for $28,000.00 that is 2.72 acres in size next to Outer Highway 15 in Yermo CA which like the other one is zoned RL or Rural Living, unlike the other that has water and probably a septic system, this one has nothing and is next to the paved highway that I mentioned and some power lines. Possibly $185.00 a month after a $5,600.00 down payment and closing costs of about $1,120.00 according to Realtor.com, plus there is no sales tax here on land in CA. Property taxes are supposed to be $29.00 a year for the land. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

Sort of winning... We had some equipment removed over a month ago... We have the engineer's paperwork. I even took some pictures "just to be sure"... (And to mark the start of a long overdue upgrade...) Lo and behold, we are still being charged for it! I've since wasted far too long with their admin, even sending the pictures to them of them taking away the bits... And the result is...? We'll hear back from them again once their admin team has caught up with the world... Hey ho!! ... Is this where we need laws/regulations imposing a minimum of standards of business interactions? There's a LOT of needlessly wasted time here at our expense for their extra profit... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |
