10lbs lost is 10lbs, 1 pound a day this time according to my notes. I have enough Trulicity for 7 weeks, in 3 weeks I need to refill my prescription. The cats know it's hot out, in the morning I need to buy some food, I'm out of sourdough and low on mustard and burritos. Some wonder why I buy them, they're low in gluten and easy to heat in the microwave. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

I hit 111 in my travels today near Grass Valley. It was officially 102 in Reno, the new record for this date. |

Winning after hours of getting nowhere fast on the internet and landline today, but at least I finally got my dumb cellphone finally activated if nothing else. Anyhow we're just getting the occasional lite shower here so far today while reaching 12C (felt like 10C) and my body clock is totally out of wack. Well Dog has been fed, now to see about doing something about the body ckock. Cheers. |

Last weekend I fixed my mother-in-law's mountain bike. Some years old; it urgently needed a new chain and sprockets. Its gear ratio is unsuitable for our flatland region. Don't know why she choose this bike. You usually ride in one of the smallest rear sprockets with few teeth (13...11). The bike is a very light thing with a 11-speed Deore XT derailleur gears (comparable to Ultegra on a race bike). This has the advantage that you can buy individual parts of the expensive sprocket cassettes. The large upper ones in modules of three, the five smallest sprockets individually for a few euros each. You only replace what is really worn out. Cost-saving and ressource efficient. I like it. But this 11-speed* tech is over-engineered. Very small gaps, narrow, needs expensive special chains (directional ones, must be mounted the right way round, lettering facing outwards. Gosh!). The chain links are milled on the front and rear edges, notched in the middle so that the sprocket next to it doesn't lift the chain. Such high-tech is only suitable for the race track or trips in beautiful sunshine. In everyday life with bad weather, rain, sand and mud, the expensive tech wears out quickly. A cheap 8-speed system, on the other hand, can be tortured for two or three years without much maintenance. The sprockets then look bad, more like sawblades than sprockets. But the chain still doesn't slip. The usable period between new and completely worn out is much longer. But of course, when driving up steep hills off-road, this 11-speed stuff is great. Impressive light tech and engineering. * There is also still more expensive 12-speed gears and the Italians (Campagnolo) even offer 13-speed for race bikes. Crazy stuff. |

Mr. McDuck. You may not like the peddle monster I want. Unfortunately it is very pricey. The blue and orange color will change to suit my tastes. And to keep with current ebike regulations a class 3 750 watt mid drive motor. Which I think is a much better choice of the European regulation class 1 250 watt option. 120 gear 1000 watt pedal/electric assist Equad bike. |

When I was 16 I built a 10 speed bike to replace the cable locked 10 speed bike my dad had bought for my birthday, it did have a Shimano derailleur that I bought, the frame was ordinary, it was able to keep up with auto traffic on Del Amo Blvd in Lakewood CA. With parts and some help where I did not have the tools or the expertise, I had a replacement for $99.00, no kid with bolt cutters stole that bike. The bike is long gone as I'd eventually sold it, I wish I hadn't, but what's done is done. I now have 3 tires in my car, two aluminum rims are left and the battery is under the "new" tires and that's where the rims will go since I have almost no trunk, temps are predicted to get to 118F here today. I think I need to setup an appointment to get the tires mounted, the weather is supposed to be cooler on Saturday, like 110. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! 88f on the way to the upper 90s. the AC remains on and the house will stay at 73. Mine is set at 74F and I had to lower the temp from 77, the inside temp is at 79, the outside temp is 113 and Sunny, predicted high says 117, though 118 has been there too, the low was 84 outside. Well you wouldn't like being west of this mountain range that I live on top of either where 43C during summer is considered as mild.[...] the weather is supposed to be cooler on Saturday, like 110.You call 110F 'cooler'? Holy cow! I would not survive there. The rain has finally moved on from here heading towards Kiwi Land to give our cousins across the gutter a little drink. We reached our expected max of 12C (felt like 10C) here today and thankfully tomorrow will be dry for my next visit to the quack to have another bit taken out of me, but thankfully the 3 stitches in my nose will also be taken out so that I can finally scratch an itchy nose once more. Anyhow it's getting close to time to see what I'll be watching tonight. Cheers. |

Here under an otherworldly bright grey overcast, with vague grey blobby bits... ... And despite the heat, it actually feels clammy and chilly! Meanwhile... Lots to do! Time flies! ... And has my stomach survived the adventure across the hills and far away through The Food Desert?... Time will soon tell! Full credit to the 'locals' over there, the training went well as far as it could. Positive and hopeful results were demonstrated far sooner than I could ever hope for. However... It has become apparent that there is a lot of 'habitual' ways and unthinking 'methods' that 'have always been so' and are almost a part of the fabric of that site. There is a slow willingness to copy 'new ways'... But that all too soon all gets forgotten once even just one person blindly goes through the old motions for then all others to follow in behind to follow the more familiar old well worn way... (And no, we do not have the option of injecting some 'new blood' into the mix...) See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |
