Here in the tablelands we got off to a foggy and frosty -2C (felt like -6C) as the sun rose with 15C being expected today.

Once this fog clears we should have a fairly sunny day and I've got some things to do today outside (and maybe tomorrow morning) before days of forecasted rain hits.

Anyhow it's time for another coffee.

Cheers.

I have good news, I'm down to 465lbs in weight.

Ok I've decided to go with this lot for $28,000.00 that is 2.72(2.61 SB Co Tax Collector) acres in size next to North Outer Highway 15 in Yermo CA which is zoned RL or Rural Living, this one has nothing and is next to the paved highway and some power lines.

Possibly $185.00 a month after a $5,600.00 down payment and closing costs of about $1,120.00 according to Realtor.com, plus there is no sales tax here on land in CA. Property taxes are supposed to be $29.00(Realtor said this) a year for the land.

The San Bernardino County Tax collector says the land is worth $6,404.00 and taxes are $75.59 a year, plus part of the front of the property has power lines going across the land in a right of way, I just needed the parcel number, easy peasy to get the info. The taxes are affordable, one check and it's done. And yes I checked the property out.

My home has taxes of $12.30 a year and this lot is unimproved bare land. $75.59+$12.30= might equal $87.89 a year, still easy to pay, manufactured homes never go up in value or at least haven't in the past.

I could maybe get a construction bridge loan to buy the land and move my home there from Capital One as I do business with them and I have located a mover who does tear down, moving, and setup, and has said some moves are FREE and I know that is not guaranteed, and they operate in San Bernardino County where I live at and the lot is about 3.5-4 miles from here.

The land needs:

A building permit (piece of cake, My home had one once, cost $293.00 total),
A Water Well (this is needed since most properties out here have no water service in the street and this lot is no exception, maybe $10,000.00),
A Septic System (a self contained sewer system that gets pumped every time a property gets sold or sooner, if the property has one),
Electricity (located at the street),
A 200 amp Stub (this hooks the Manufactured Home to the electrical grid),
2 Telephone poles which cost about $15,000 each (to get electricity from the street to My home and stub),
A Manufactured Home (I have one that I own and live in, completely paid for by my late aunt in full),
Chain link fencing and 2 gates, used to keep people off the property and to define the shape of my property too,
Solar Panels (this would help me, 8 450w panels and 2 2400w micro inverters and 2 20 amp 120v circuits, each 2400w micro inverter can handle 4 such panels).

Any thoughts?

Instead of poles have you looked into a trencher to put the power underground Vic? It's certainly a cheaper alternative in most cases here to have done.

Well I'm thinking about a spot of lunch after a few beers, washing clothes and putting veggie seeds in today.

Cheers.

That's a thought, it's caliche soil here, when dry the soil acts like concrete, I'd have to ask the mover as that might be what they want.

There is a small 2 lane bridge that is broken a few hundred feet down the road that crosses the Calico Ditch, it's been like that for over a year and the local dairy queen drive thru needs work and won't be worked on for another year or so thanks to a labor shortage out here. The county or someone opened up a small off road dirt bypass for autos, otherwise the road there is bisected.

The horse would not like desert temps as high as 115F, all summer long we get 100-112 temps and very low humidity like 8%.

Winning as I finally get around to preparing a feed.

Hopefully I'll get a chance in the morning to finish a couple of those outside jobs before the due wet gets here.

Cheers.

Any thoughts?

Lots.....
Actual costs of moving - forget the "free" one, knowing the USA there will be all sorts of "not included" costs.
Building permit - depending on the exact zoning and situation of your current location there could be a cost there. And of course the price for the new location will have gone up in the last 20 or so years, I'd guess at least a four-fold increase, so probably nearer $1000.
Abstraction license for a well - annual or one off?
Environmental charges for a septic tank system - I know that in some places these are pretty high while in others they very low - you need to check.
Pumping the septic tank - a lot of more remote properties over here have them, and generally they have them pumped out every couple of years (normally due to the smell they make if the tank's ecosystem fails due to flood or drought)
Do the local stores deliver to the area?
How do the local shops fit your needs (parking lots, EV charging etc.)
How close are you to a doctor?
That bridge that down - would it be your total or partial responsibility to get it fixed?
Any "public transport" along the side road?

You missed one Rob. He lives in a medium to heavy seismic area.
The area my dad lives in has buried electrical service.

Escaped! For healthy food and beer. And it's a beautiful sunny evening and it's... Friday!!

Had a worrying equipment failure during the afternoon... Something more than a spasm that a restart didn't clear... An hour later saw a bank of four connections cleaned up to restore power and data... That's a little worrying in that there should be no way for corrosion/oxidation to get in there...

Hey ho! I've been meaning to leapfrog away from that unit to something we have ready as a spare that has much more recent specs. And that is an awful lot cleaner!!!

The ongoing problem is when is least disruptive for the down-time...

All good fun!

Any "public transport" along the side road?

I had to move this home from N. Las Vegas NV to here in Nov 2006, so I'm aware of a lot.
License for a water well, no comes with a building permit, drilling is at least $10,000.00 water in the street would be nice, but I'm on the wrong side of the fwy for that.
I'd have to check no matter what, though some movers handle that.
Can't pump what isn't there or is empty.
Pizza delivery? The person making the order has to self deliver it, otherwise NO, even Peggy Sues 50's restaurant doesn't deliver, the foods good though.
I charge at home or I can charge at Eddie World or at Walmart if I have at least 10 miles left on the meter, less might need a tow and I have AAA towing.
Bridge out? Nope, that's the county road and bridge which is a part of N. Outer Hwy 15, strangely there is a Yermo Rd on the other side of the 15 fwy, but no S. Outer Hwy 15.
Public transport is only on Yermo Rd and the bus stop is not withing sane walking distance.
The Doctor is as close as My phone or if driving from there maybe 10 miles, here it's about 13 miles.

I went from 485lbs on 6/12 to 477lbs on 6/18 to 465lbs on 6/27 yesterday, 20lbs, its free to a good home.

We got off the a foggy and slightly frosty 1C (felt like -1C) start here today with 15C being expected before things get damp again.

Anyhow I'll finish this coffee before I throw some firewood into Robbie the Robot and light him up to take the chill out of the air downstairs.

Cheers.

Almost 8 and still over 85f.
Not looking forward to next week. Sacramento is expecting 115f on Wednesday. And they have high humidity.

Yes it is 8:07pm, current temp is 93F, max temp was 103, inside the temp is 80.

Since I lost some weight again, at 465 lbs I could briefly stand and work on two PC's, so I added 4 cards to 2 PC's, though I will have to take 2 cards out, rewire the front panel wires without the Asus adapter, then reinstall the two cards.

I lost 20 Lbs... Over 15 days. I'm on a 1140 or so calorie per day diet and trulicity @ 4.5mg.

I need to go thru 2 boxes to find the Sound Baster pci-e sound card to go with the 1 RTX3060 card, the other 3 are 1660Ti cards.
