The French Chansonnière, songwriter and icon of the 1960s passed away aged 80. The Rolling Stone named Hardy in 2023 on their list of the best 200 singers of all time, the only French singer.

Hardy became known in 1962 with her hit “Tous les garçons et les filles”, which the then 18-year-old had written herself.

"Maman est partie…" her son Thomas Dutronc wrote on Tuesday evening, together with a photo showing him as a child with his mother. Hardy had been suffering from cancer for 20 years.

This evening, the French-German TV channel 'arte' showed the fantastic documentary "Françoise Hardy - La discrète". The deceased French singer also spoke German fluently (16m30s)... Incroyable!
