While I've still got at least a couple of hours to go until that big light starts to glow I'll see if a can get a nap in.

Cheers.

We kicked off here to a damp 5C (felt like 2C) Saturday morning in the highlands with just 10C being expected today so it looks like I'll be in for a relaxing time.

Anyhow it must be time for a coffee.

Cheers.

I'm back in Reno. Nowhere near as hot as Barston but still too hot.

Yet again the best that we could get here today was 8C (felt like 4C) except we've had a misty drizzle fall all day long.

Cheers.

Nice 55 presently, but we are expecting it to get to 95. Might be a good day to go kayaking.

After a gloomy 7C (felt like 4C) start here we're up to a breezy 12C (feels like 8C), but at least it is reasonably sunny now.

Cheers.

We're celebrating Chucky's birthday today and it tells as it's so foggy here this morning.

Cheers.

Two bikes (wife's and daughter's) refurbished to perfection. Dirt removed, new saddles, new brake pads,
wife's got a new chain (long overdue). Chain grease dirt cleaned away. Both bikes look like new again. Ready for the next 2,000 km.

Next up is my more than 20-year-old everyday racer. The entire drive has to be replaced: chainrings, sprockets, chain, front derailleur, brake cable housings, front hub and rim. I had already replaced shift levers and cable housings two years ago. I only found adequate replacements at bike vintage parts from Hong Kong. They offered the exact type of shift levers: 20-years-old, in its original packing, unused at a reasonable price. Air freight was less than €10. Great.

You can also put today's shift levers on such an old bike. But the quality of now low-end shift levers for 7 or 8 gears is... unsatisfying... to say the least. Levers are too flexible (thin plastics)... have sharp edges... are unpleasant to touch. These 'things' work, but that's all. It also looks embarrassing... to have today's cheap components on an old 'matured' bike. Imagine an elegant, decades old Italian racing bike and someone dares to replace worn out Campagnolo parts with today's low-end Shimanos... a sacrilege.
