Rain dampens play...

As we race into a part way finale...

Firstly, a pause for thought and planning over one or two brews as the tumult around here grows...

47f climbing to 70f. The dew point is 46f so everything is wet. Feels colder.
It looks like we are matching the prior record low. I am tempted to light a fire.

Up again at a ridiculous hour and still no rain, but Thor can still be heard.

Cheers.

Various bits and pieces cleared... The tumult is calming down. And we're soon to escape as the sun goes down.

And... There is a plot to rendezvous at a village enroute for food and good cheer and to celebrate the progress thus far.

All good fun?

Posting at a more reasonable time of the morning as the rain buckets down as we kicked off here at 9C (felt like 7C) with just 14C being expected for this Good Friday.

Now where's that coffee?

Cheers.

Lone Pine CA 67F, Cerro Gordo Ghost Town in CA? Unknown... Pop 1.
8500' and the main problem besides the steep 1 lane dirt road, is regular water pressure.

Currently the American Hotel is being rebuilt and now has a 40,000 gallon water tank for the ceiling sprinklers.

The tank was brought in on the back of a used Marine truck, like so... Heavy D supplied both.

The American Hotel before the fire and after.

Brent Underwood owner of Cerro Gordo and the Hoist which goes down to the 900' level or it should, water currently is at the 700' level, 200' is closed off due to excessive cave ins.

Construction is underway @ 8500' elevation with the help of a used US Army 6x6 5 ton truck. Heavy D bought and brought a 5 axle cement truck.

The temp here isn't going anywhere fast here, but that wind certainly is, as we get to 11C (feels like 6C) outside with a few showers still roaming about (though we did get 8mm by 9am).

Anyhow I better split a bit of kindling for tomorrow morning before it's LLB time.

Cheers.

Yeah I'll be doing much the same myself at the end of next month Admiral. ;-)

A few splashes of sunshine has the mercury here hitting the 14C mark (feels like 8C) as a gale blow across the top of this mountain range with the odd lite shower getting blown about.

Anyhow now that the kindling has been split and Robbie the Robot's bowels have been evacuated and ready for tomorrow morning it's time for a LLB.

[P.S.] I also got a bucket of ash out of Robbie from over winter to spread through my latest compost pile when I hit it with the compost screw in a week or 2's time.

Cheers.

Today is "dawning", well sort of. It's misty, damp and just generally grotty outside. Certainly the sort of day that encourages one to stay at home, but I've got to do some shopping.....

We actually got to windy 15C (felt like 9C), but as the sun sets it's down to 11C (feels like 6C) with a windy 2C expected here in the morning.

I have got my veggies covered up as even though the sheds (Dog's and mine) will be protecting them from the wind there's still the chance of frost forming there.

Anyhow I guess that I should start thinking about dinner.

Cheers.

This is the first time in almost five years living in this flat. I had to serve eviction on a mouse. Don’t know where it came from or how it got in. Saw it a few days ago and I set out glue traps. Today I served eviction on this squatter. I replaced the trap with a new one and hope it was only one that I will have to take care of.

Off out for some much needed local beers later.

And I'm really enjoying some good healthy food again!

I can really noticeably feel my stomach recovering to be quietly happy again.

... If things go to plan, my next test task and survival of the food-desert site comes in two weeks time. At least we've found a couple of refuges in the far flung area from taking time out for an extended exploratory forage... However, still not good. Further plans and ideas to be chased up!!

(And no wonder that most of the people there look badly unhealthy and zombie three-quarters depressed.)

3 cats and no mice, srsly there are feral cats in the park, they take care of the mice, I've only had 2 moths, a small one that Grace ate, and a big one that one of the 3 gobbled up.

Shafts go up and down.
Drifts go right and left.
Adits always go across the Drifts and Shafts and like Shafts come out of the ground or a hillside or a mountain.

I learned this while watching Ghost Town Living on youtube, the author lives on 314.97acres in a mountain top Ghost Town with a water problem, realtor.com says in 2018 the property and permits was $925,000.00, this later sold for $1.4 Million. Brent Underwood has been living at 8500' ever since and with a little help from his friends he's rebuilding a hotel and has made sure the sprinklers have enough water for at least 1 hour, the new hotel will look like the old one, but will be up to code in Inyo County and has a concrete foundation and block basement, there is a 40,000 gallon water tank for & next to the hotel, the area needs one of its own and a water well, two water springs had been tapped in the 19th century but had both gone dry, even at 8500' it's a desert that is 6-7 miles from Death Valley CA, currently there is water @ 350-500 gallons a day from the closed Silver/Lead/Zinc mine, but for the moment that is all there is, there is talk of employing a dowser or a water witch so a water well can be drilled. Currently Cerro Gordo I think is part of Lone Pine CA and is in California. Knob and tube wiring is bad and is suspected of being the cause of 3 buildings burning to the ground completely, there is no fire trucks there or hydrants and only a 7 mile dirt road that can get pretty tight and steep in places.

Drifting along.

The low this morning here was 48F, currently 64 and Sunny, predicted high of 74.

Oh and one more thing, I have good news and bad news.

Good news my trulicity prescription is in the RiteAid fridge.
Bad news is RiteAid won't deliver my prescription cause it needs to be refrigerated and can only be out for 30mins at most.

Winning on a windy Saturday morning that didn't get as cold as the experts reckoned it would. We kicked off here today at 7C (felt like 3C) with 18C expected today,

Anyhow it's now coffee time.

[edit] Seeing as it didn't get as cold as was expected this morning I decided to save my kindling until tomorrow morning (where 1C is expected).

Cheers.

My Trulicity shots will be here on Saturday or Sunday as I asked a local friend if he could get my prescription from RiteAid for me.

Also I turned the gas furnace on since it's 58F outside my home, as this morning the temp was 48, 46 is being predicted.

I had to find 2 AA alkaline batteries that worked as the ones in the thermostat weren't giving out any power, and the gas furnace is working and is set for 77F.

I also had to confine Chitty to a carrier for being a bully and for trying to use the sofa as a scratching post, there is a post at the back left corner of the sofa, he was at the left front corner, he was in the carrier for just over 2 hours.
