Well sunrise won as the rain had to battle its way up the eastern escarpment, but it did arrive so I never got back to my guttering job today.

We also only got to 20C (felt like 17C) here today as we take a break from the drizzle again and I doubt that we'll see any sunshine before it sets, but more rain is expected after it does and throughout the night.

[edit] I spoke too soon as the rain is coming down already.

Cheers.

What a rapid turn-around for the weather here!

Brightly breezy mild but with very big puddles...

Winning on a warm, but wet, Thorsday morning while waiting for sunrise.

Well it doesn't look like I'll get much done here again today with this weather.

Cheers.

The weather report has almost a inch and a half of sleet (1.3). They are advising people not to drive anywhere if possible. Tonight around midnight is a repeat if not heavier of today’s weather. Work sent a text message saying stay home and see if thorsday is better for coming in.

At sunrise here it was 17C and 18C is expected today as the rain continues to fall, but thankfully most of this wet is being worn out by the escarpment that it has to climb to get up here while over 100mm (4") is being recorded at the bottom of it and along the coast (I just had a quick look at the gauge and there's about 16mm in it so far).

Anyhow I might as well get myself another coffee.

Cheers.

All is damply dark with a few random squalls thundering across to wake up the ghosts!

Decided to stay hunkered down for the time being...

As we take another break in the rain we have already reached our expected max of 18C here so there's still plenty of the morning/day left to beat that.

We still need another 25mm to hit our February average, but we could get there with what's on the forecast for the rest of the month.

Cheers.

The sun is trying to break through the clouds and we're now up to 19C (feels like 17C) while the escarpment is proving too much for what is coming in from the coast.

But I'm still not going to drag the power tools outside to finish that guttering job off, as it'll likely start to rain again as soon as I do.

Cheers.

The experts here certainly got our expected max wrong as we're now at 22C (feels like 21C) as the rain comes down again.

Cheers.

Just out west the mud would be even warmer with temps in the 30-32C range out there. ;-)

Anyhow it's time for a 2nd beer. :-)

Cheers.

Putin makes his mess...

Meanwhile, over in a more civilized world, we have a ford where the only things passing through are lots of water and mud... Between the clouds, we enjoyed a beautifully bright orange sunset across the soggy landscape.

Rather insignificant really compared to the wider world...

Well I should've put a jacket on for my morning yard inspection as the easterly wind came up while I was out there and the sun was trying to break through when I started (it was a damp 17C here at sunrise) after more lite overnight rain (I'll definitely have 1 on when I check the rain gauge at 9am). The ground is also once again getting soft underfoot and it'll get a lot softer if that mess just on the other side of the border comes down over it.

Anyhow it's time for a coffee break.

[edit] After dumping 6mm out of the gauge (MTD:71.75mm/YTD:166.5mm) I got a chance to throw around some Dynamic Lifter over some weak areas of the grass just as more wind driven drizzle around.

Cheers.

I'm not winning today as everytime I step outside I get hit by a new bout of wind driven drizzle. I've tried a few times now to go out and start cutting more turf to extend the new drainage ditch along the high side of the yard, but as soon as I get out there with the spade it comes back in. :-(

It's not nice getting hit in the eyes by it so I guess that I'll give up with that job as well for the time being and go and have a LLB. ;-)

Cheers.
