Today, August 20th is my 72nd birthday. Not bad for a guy that wasn't supposed to survive his infancy. But thanks to the good Navy doctors and others that provided my early health care I'm two years into my eighth decade. It hasn't been a bed of roses and there have been plenty of bumps in the road along the way but even though I am now confined to a wheelchair I am reasonably healthy. I just got a job a couple of weeks ago back working in civil engineering as a survey cad technician part time at home. I needed the job to supplement my social security income that just barely covers all the monthly expenses. I won't be able to go on a world cruise with the extra income but that's OK given the state of world affairs today. I don't know how many more years this old bag of bones is going to last but at least now I can enjoy what's left of this so called life.
