Is that low positive pressure, or low negative (below atmospheric) pressure? Positive pressure but not extreme... That one was fixing a numpty random chopped up hose + jubilee clips with a proper hose + actual connectors... That will be much better for the environment for now no leaking... And safer for less frustrations... All a good game... :-) :-) See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

The lite drizzle here has finally turned into rain and it's now blowing a cold gale. [edit] We got up to 12C (felt like 9C) here, but it's now back down to 9C (feels like 3C). Cheers. |

Hopefully attached to something interesting? Can't compete with that for thrust except... There is a pair of RB183 not too far away that are promised to be fired up sometime as the pandemic clears... Sad to say just a large lump of concrete half buried in the ground. Will be great to see and hear it back home in its F104 one day. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Carlos? near you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJr2v2953ig Close but not a threat. It's north of two major rivers in a grassy area. Here is the Zoom Earth image at of 5:30 am Pacific yesterday. (about the time of that recording) Correction, new image from a few minutes ago show it flared back up. Still not a threat to me but more smoke for Sacramento. ![]() It was out by noon. Other fires are still larger and having a greater impact. ![]() Good morning! |

For something rather mundane and domestic: Drained and flushed a good old gas central heating system. Nicely good and clean still. Refill with water and inhibiter. Bleed all the radiators. And switch on the circulation pump and... There's the banging gurgling sounds of an air lock or few... Next is to go round bleeding all the radiators again... What is it with plumbers and a complete unawareness of where air/gass bubbles go? All done blindly by tick-box regulations and hasty anything goes greedy rush and real world physics be damned? Round we go again! See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

I've got nothing, except a smog check that I have no money for, an oil leak(it was either remove a Ticked/Mite sofa & mattress or the 22yr old car that I thought didn't need more smog tests cause of its age), spark plugs that need to be replaced and injectors that need cleaning and a leaking power steering reservoir which uses ATF fluid, the reservoir is made by FORD and is not made anymore, isn't that wonderful? Actually, (as long as you DON'T plan on driving much/at all), you CAN submit the PNO, (Planned Non-Operational), Fee to DMV, (electronically on the DMV Website), using their Pay By e-Check System, (using your bank's Routing Number and Account Number), and then save up the 'normal' Renewal Fees for a later date. Then, NO SMOG Test is required while on PNO Status. (Saves you up to $70 Dollars for the CA Smog Fee, too; until you do pay the regular Fees to re-register the car....) As for the 'Age Exemption' in CA; I thought it was 25 Years or older for a vehicle in CA. Also, at 25 Years of age, IF the car was originally sold in CA, you can qualify for 'Historical Vehicle Status.' I'm NOT sure if there are Fees associated with filing for that Status.... PNO in CA USED TO BE a flat $10, back in the day.... NOW, it's gone up. I think it's based on the age of the vehicle and is a percentage of the Blue Book Value; so will vary car to car... On my recent Registration Renewal, I want to say it was $20+ Dollars, ($23 off the top of my head), for my 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid to go PNO. I ALMOST had to do this, because this year was a Smog Year, and with my Battery Pack having gone bad, AND the IMA Check Engine Light ON, I would NOT have passed Smog Test. Thanks to dad finding Green Bean Battery on the Web, and for PRETTY CHEAP COST compared to my mechanic AND Honda Dealership near me, I WAS able to replace the Battery Pack AND get the car Smogged and Registered by the due date. IIRC if you PNO a car your liability insurance also goes invalid. All because it is illegal for the tires to be on the public pavement unless a wrecker is pulling it. |

The Lawyer part of my head needs to correct a couple of items stated here. First, Victor, the DMV will not send your account to collection if you miss the registration deadline. Look at your statement and you will likely four amounts. The registration fee if paid by the deadline then two additional amount which include a penalty if paid by the later date specified. The last the fee for a planned non-operation. Second, Insurance: Liability insurance will continue even if you file a planned non-operation ,PNO. The PNO prohibits operation on any public road, but it allows the vehicle to be transported over public roads. It can be on a trailer or even towed. It simply cannot be operated on public roads. It can also be operated on private roads. A vehicle under a PNO can cause damage if it falls off a trailer, is part of larger collision, or hits a third party on a private road. I had a Jeep that I used on job sites only. It was on PNO since it did not see any public roads, but my insurance covered a minor fender bender. I still had to pay the liability insurance but was covered. |

Under PNO, a vehicle CAN run on the roads IF being taken to a mechanic to 'repair' the vehicle and get a Smog Test. Otherwise, yes, Gary and Carlos are correct in that the vehicle is NOT to be driven for 'normal/regular' use on public roads. [EDIT:] The "...taking to the mechanic" clause had been told to me decades ago. IF the law has changed, I have NOT seen that change. NOT to dispute that a change may have occurred. IF Vic is in dire straits over lack of sufficient funds to fix and smog AND register the car all at once is why I even mention going PNO for a short time to gather said funds to complete all issues. The Lawyer part of my head needs to correct a couple of items stated here. From DMV PNO statement "vehicle will continue to be stored and not operated, parked or TOWED on the streets or highways" As I said, no wheels on public streets. So yes, you can put it all wheels on a trailer, but the trailer's insurance, and tow vehicle's, would apply if it falls off. As to liability read the very fine print carefully, knowingly operating it illegally usually voids coverage. e.g. letting an unlicensed person drive it, using it in a bank robbery. Obviously off road isn't illegal for PNO as long as you have the property owners permission. <ed>Wreckers have a different DMV section allowing them to move all sorts of vehicles. <ed2>I remember the to the mechanic as well but IIRC it had to be directly there. So you couldn't run to the auto parts store only a licensed repair station. I also remember it being for "fix-it" tickets. |

Winning now that my usual Monday morning chores have been completed. With all this sunshine and a cool breeze my yard should be dry enough to continue digging out the edges tomorrow. But now it's time for a beer or 2. ;-) Cheers. |
