Someone has to be first and that's usually safe. I'll claim that hopefully safe place.

Yep... Had a pigeon do that trick just after I'd cleaned my windows.

Guess it was trying to take a short cut through my house!...

It fluttered away again sideways and obviously dazed. It left behind a very artistic greasy imprint of its feathers and splayed out wings.

How difficult can a journey into Cellular 5G USB data modems be?!

Vintage future times that make the much more recent JJ Abrams comical attempts look comically silly!

OK... So where on the web are there any 'simple' USB <--> 4G/5G cellular data modems/dongles, preferably with an external aerial, that don't have WiFi frippery included?!

Help?!

Edit: We have the silly giggle here in the UK about the 'wrong' type of leaves on the tracks stopping services. Does that stretch to the wrong kind of mud in the telephone telegraphy wires ducts?...

Yeah. I call it my iPhone. If I want a internet connection on my desktop. I just plug in my charger cable to my iPhone and use a USB port on my computer. Then turn on the hotspot.

Most phones, though not all have either a micro-usb port(non standard) or a standard USB-C port, at least this is true in the US, elsewhere? I don't know.

Yes, thanks, that works ok, and temporarily... That's how I'm still online at all.

However, the internet goes off as soon as anyone calls me or if I want to actually use it as a phone...

And my spare old phone is locked to an unfavorable network...

It's a close call for unlocking and new battery and the hassle time for doing the unlocking or just buy a new data dongle and sim.

The era of 100-year-old corroded wires should be long past!!...

Posting on a breezy Good Friday morning while waiting for sunrise to happen, but the stars can be seen today.

Now where's my coffee?

Cheers.
