Well it's been 1 strange morning here.

I woke up early again at 4am (at least an hour too early), did a kernel update (of which the download flew through) and then the only site I could pull up reliably was here (usually it's the other way around) before that connection dropped out as well, but I had to wait until 8am to call my ISP to find out what was going on to which they finally called me back over an hour later saying that they were having problems connecting to the satellite. While waiting I reset the whole system a few times before 8am to no avail, though the 1st couple of times all the lights were coming on as they should before certain lights didn't.

At least my old ADSL ISP would have a recorded message straight up when things went wrong instead of punching in numbers, waiting 25mins before punching in another number requesting a call back to eventually get the info as to the problem another 45mins later on.

Thankfully all's well again and I did bring in a bit more of that firewood in that's stacked out the front of the shed starting at 7am, but now I'm going to enjoy a 2nd coffee break for the morning before bringing yet more of that firewood in.

I've injected myself today, made myself into a cat bed while on the short sofa and made sure the pillows were adjusted right to support my legs.

Vacuumed the kitchen of discarded cat hair thanks to one furball.

I remembered that the other 240v breaker was removed and replaced with two 20 amp 120v breakers years ago, I have a 25 amp and a 30 amp 240v breaker, both should work, though the 25 has the better chance w/a 60 amp max here, last time I had an electric clothes dryer I'd turn it on and have to go outside and reset the main 100 amp breaker and everything worked after the reset, I've no idea why it had a 60 amp breaker when it was a 30 amp circuit. the cable between my main breaker and the stub is the biggest aluminium cable one can get for this, it was also FREE in 2006, the copper equivalent would have cost more money that I didn't have, the rest of my home is 100% copper beyond the pigtails.

Oh and here's some good news, if you heard this already, please forgive me, they found the 6th and last body in Baltimore Maryland.

Good news indeed. It is important for families to be able to find peace and come to terms with the terrible loss.

On July 14th, 15th 2021 there was a flood disaster (rare heavy rain event) in the narrow Ahr valley in the Rhineland, the worst since decades. 135 people died, two are still missing today. One body was found as far as in the port of Rotterdam (Netherlands), hundreds of kilometers downstream of Ahr and Rhine rivers, just before reaching the North Sea. The uncertainty about the fate of those who disappeared hurts forever.

Usually cloud seeding is used to bring rain to parched land, but 1 country is using it to try and stop it.

Cloud seeding planned in response to deadly floods and landslides in Indonesia.

Officials in Indonesia have begun cloud seeding as they try to prevent further rain and flash flooding after a deluge hit the country's Sumatra Island over the weekend and left at least 67 people dead and another 20 missing.

The Monsoon rains triggered landslides of mud and cold lava from Mount Marapi, which eventually caused rivers to breach their banks.

The deluge tore through mountainside villages in four districts in West Sumatra province just before midnight on Saturday.

The floods swept away people and submerged hundreds of houses and buildings, forcing more than 1,500 families to flee to temporary government shelters, according to National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) spokesperson Abdul Muhari.

He said 67 bodies had been pulled from mud and rivers by Wednesday, mostly in the worst-hit Agam and Tanah Datar districts, while rescuers were searching for 20 people reported missing.

About 44 villagers were injured.......

This poor fellow got more than a chair pulled out from underneath him.

Shocking footage has captured the moment an airline worker fell from a plane door and onto the runway after a colleague removed the stairs without him realising.

According to reports, the incident was in violation of aviation rules that dictate the mobile ladder should not be removed until the aircraft’s doors are closed.

That's what i was thinking- what were the ground crew doing moving the stairs before the door had been closed???

Well Grant. I have my total data usage for the month. You would think the phone is surgically implemented but it’s not. It usually sits close to me and I stare at it or a 50 inch tv when I have it screen mirrored to it. I just do a lot of video streaming with some web browsing. The total this month is (drumroll) 109GB. Lol. 446Mb was system services.

It usually sits close to me and I stare at it or a 50 inch tv when I have it screen mirrored to it. I just do a lot of video streaming with some web browsing. Cancel that drum roll.

My usage, but it does include one son, who works from home, was 2063.33 GB for the last 30 days.

This month i'll be doing over 40GB for the month, but that's from using my broadband connection for all of my new phone's software updates.
Other than the odd bit of YouTube, i don't watch any video online so my usual monthly data usage is around 30GB or less.

All I have atm is a semi vintage iPhone.

Fibre to the premises, so no issues with copper wiring or coax.

Fibre, 1 Gb/s
Live in village, but the local provider circled the route to cover as many villages as possible between larger towns. Probably a wise decision for the provider, as the slowest connection, that I know of, in the village is 300 Mb/s.

And very possibly there will be FTTP here too, probably in 2025 from Frontier.

One of the well seasoned veteran storm trackers had a vehicle accident live on tv. He hydroplaned, spun around and gently rolled over. He and his partner reported in no injuries and were waiting for a ride.
