Interesting, not polluting is a radical left wing thing, does the right wing endorse pollution? Or are the old fossil fuels oligarchs dragging their dirty heels for yet more greedy profit and everyone else and the world be damned? A huge political advantage with 'going green' is that the reliance on supplies from a few super-rich petrochemical states is removed. Resulting in: Cleanly greater freedoms all round! Also, hopefully, the political strife over restricted supplies will be removed to also remove some of the conflicts across the world. Stay safe folks! The reason your gas prices have risen is because OPEC has cut production and U.S. stocks are low. https://www.nrdc.org/experts/anthony-swift/department-energy-data-shows-keystone-xl-export-pipeline |

Hmmm, that report puts a very new light on the XL Pipeline's function. A pipeline designed to transport foreign oil to a port area for export. The real "loosers" in this saga are not the People of the USA (with the exception of those involved in the operation of the pipeline in the USA and harbour), but the Canadian government who lose a good few billions of US dollars income. But do they actually loose? Not being able to put costs on the clean-up process of both the oil sands and land left behind after excavation which are going to be local saving. Further there is quite an energy saving because, as far as I'm aware, the oil that was to be exported via the USA is more like road tar than "nice thin" Brent crude. And I don't see the Canadians crying in their beer/coffee about this loss of income. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Thank you for the additional information concerning the XL pipeline. I admit I was a bit mislead as to it's impact on the US. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Now I am really worried. Joe has promised that the vaccines are 100% safe. NOTHING is 100% safe. If, by this time next year, there have been no major side effects from taking the vaccines I may decide to get vaccinated. Meanwhile I will just stay home 90% of the time like I have done for the last 10 years. Not one outbreak of the flu in my house in over 10 years. Your choice, and I respect that, but IMHO it is the wrong one. In the UK all reports have to be reported on a Yellow Card, The Yellow Card report, up to the14th Feb 2021 can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting#yellow-card-reports, at that time 15 million does had been administered and As of 14 February 2021, for the UKThe vast majority of these are for minor symptoms, which if they listened or read the leaflets, they would have known could occur. there have been a small number of; Events with a fatal outcome And so far, as of yesterday over 220 million doses have been administered. I am sure if there was a serious problem anywhere it would have been all over the media already. |

Personally if someone wants to avoid the jab/s then I'll take up their place quick smart. ;-) |

https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/90556 Overall, 21 cases of anaphylaxis following COVID vaccination were reported out of about 1.9 million doses given as of Dec. 23, according to an early Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report release. That amounts to 11.1 cases per million 99.99889% So he is off by 0.00111%. That is a pretty close number when something is coming out of a politician's mouth. |

In my hopefully educated opinion, and totally regardless of whatever politics: Go for vaccination. From following some of the recent USA news, the greatest risk is in physically getting there or of being hit by falling aircraft engine parts! For myself, I'm in for my vaccination at the earliest opportunity. Good luck, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Bob, If you can get to it, then Israel’s ahead-of-the-world vaccine rollout offers hope for countries lagging behind in the Washington Post, might answer some of the concerns you have about Covid-19 vaccinations. |

I'm referring to ANY politician. I didn't like Trump and didn't vote for him the first time around. I am also in that group of people, over 70, that are at greater risk to developing a reaction to the vaccine. The development time has been too short and IMHO too many corners were cut to get it out. I think my course of action is safest for me. If I had to go out and make a living and be in contact with the general population I might have a different opinion. Just the facts: Covid vaccine: How many people in the UK have been vaccinated so far? wrote: More than 20 million people in the UK have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine - part of the biggest inoculation programme the country has ever launched...Edit: Note that the UK started with the oldest (most vulnerable) people first. Bob, on Monday here down under last week an 88-year-old man and 94-year-old woman in a Brisbane nursing home were accidentally given overdoses of the Pfizer vaccine (reports vary between 4-5 times the recommended dosage) and both were immediately taken to hospital for observation. Neither showed any adverse reactions to the overdose and the woman has since been returned to the home while the man is still there as he was due to have surgery there this week, though that has now been put off until next week, but he has been pictured walking quite well around the hospital over the last few days. So I certainly can't see any problems for either of us based on that alone let alone let alone the millions of elderly people around the world that have already had it. Also none of the 2 vaccines so far approved here (Pfizer and Oxford-AstraZeneca) were fast tracked for use so they went through our usual full approval process (the Novavax jab is just finishing stage 3 trails here with the results of that due later this month). However the contracted doctor who administered those doses has been stood down and faces further investigations, but thankfully for an observant nurse his mistakes were picked up quickly before he could overdose anyone else. Though I must say that your post on this would've been better off being in the "Coronavirus, Ebola and Infectious diseases, Food & Drugs, Studies, Recalls #7" thread instead of this particular thread where the wrong assumptions could be mistakenly made. ;-) |

Which is a good reminder that medicine and science should NEVER get politicised. However... In one political arena, everything seems to be 'politics' against all morals and against all reason. Hopefully Biden can quietly pull the USA away from such unhealthy ways! Stay safe folks!
