US Vogue editor Anna Wintour has defended the magazine following criticism of its front-cover portrait of Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris.

The image shows Ms Harris wearing an informal outfit including jeans and a pair of Converse trainers.

... criticised Vogue for the photo's "washed out" lighting and styling...

To my eyes, that picture looks to be artificially washed out to pale out almost all the colour, so far as to misrepresent the good truth and reality.

Really, is the readership of Vogue so blinkered and racially fragile?

Here we're still subject to a flaw within the Council Tax Finance Act 1992, updated 2012.
Got hit by that flaw in 2014 & it took over 5 years to get them to admit their mistakes.
However, the flaw still stands & local councils still do not inform their residents of the dangers of ignoring that flaw.
How it works:
Every year in April we all receive our annual council tax bills.
2 ways of paying are offered.
1: All up front by specified date.
2: 1 payment on a specified date followed by 9 equal payments on the 1st of every month.

Here's the flaw:
If one goes for option 2 - Exact amount must be paid.
Where I got caught was that on subsequesnt payments after the 1st one, I had paid double due to having a good month. Following month, no need to pay right?
Wrong.
They don't like getting money in advance, just what they demand at the specified time under the monthly option provided.
It's all down to the software being used.
A BP informed me (once I became aware of that fact in early 2019) that it was hard coded.
He hung up as I burst out laughing on the phone so took to using the mail with all correspondence tracked & recorded.
The bovine excrement received over the next 7 months would provide material for a comedian for well over a decade.

Now I p them off.
Still use the monthly option, but Oct & Nov make double payments.

There is a 3rd option, but you must apply for it. And that is to make 12 payments, one each month.

True, but why bother if 10 months is sufficient?
Also, the flaw is still there.
All payments must be for the exact amount & by the date specified.
Had a bemusing argument with them over that one. :-)
What if the 1st falls on a Sunday?

Sloppy inconsistent hand written punctuation, common in 18th century; somewhat before E.B. White's tome. Try reading it as if a colon was after the words "Representatives" and "Senator."

Stop quibbling. The way it is written shows that on being elected that one may not represent one's state but another. We have the same here. MP's living in one part of the country yet representing another.
However, if that is comprehended in the wrong way due to the way it was written a couple of centuries ago, then...
1: There was only 13 colonies at the time of writing.
2: There are now 50 States.
3: The population at the time was way smaller than now.
...so time to bring it up to date.

The trouble that "ancient" parchment has caused in the past 100 years at least shows, especially in the light of the 4 years of the "Blonde Bimbo", just how outdated it really is.
Sadly no matter what any American says, the rest of the world will look upon you all as buffoons for those 4 years.
