...The humorous officer who penned the plea offered some options for those who can’t live without toilet paper... He suggests from your article: Mother Earth News magazine will even tell you how to make your own wipes using fifteen different leaves. Wish I had read that before trying out the nettles. :( |

People are running scared of catching Covid-19, so I thought "What is the infection rate per capita"? It paints a very different story: Country Cases Population Case/Million San Marino 119 33,931 3507.117385 Holy See 1 801 1248.439451 Iceland 247 341,243 723.8243715 Italy 1506 60,461,826 521.0891249 Andorra 39 77,265 504.756358 Liechtenstein 19 38,128 498.3214436 Luxembourg 203 625,978 324.292547 Switzerland 2700 8,654,622 311.9720307 Spain 13716 46,754,778 293.360392 Norway 1486 5,421,241 274.1069803 United Kingdom 1960 67,886,011 28.87192768 US 6496 331,002,651 19.62522046 There are quite a number of countries that haven't reported any, and a fair number that I think have under-reported - they stand out as having very low rates despite being surrounded by countries with much higher rates. Some of those figures are wrong. For example: Italy 1506 60,461,826 521.0891249 Should be 24.9 cases per million not 521. (Assuming population and individual cases are correct.) (EG: 1506 / 60.461826) |

Some of those figures are wrong. For example:521 cases/M is correct. If you multiply 521 with 60.5 million you get the cases reported in Italy that is 31,520. It's 1506 cases that is wrong and it's look like it should be 31506 instead. |

I got other data from Italy. 35,713 cases, 2,978 deaths, 591 cases/M and no new cases today. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries |

Thanks - I fat-fingered the "3" from the Italian cases, which as you say should be 31506, the rest of the row is correct. The base figures were as published here https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html at about 16:00, 18 March 2020, with population data from a variety of sources on the web. Edit to add - that tail gunner has a really tough time of it, but I think the worst one must be the shelf stackers who don't have the protection of 4 machine guns.... Jeebers! Just put my last batch of paper into printer & went online to compare prices with 2 companies normally used (Local shops want to charge £9 per ream). I kid you not - the missus is still staring at one of the sites. At the bottom of the selection for 5 reams is a section... Don't forget to buy your hygiene & other useful products. Then shows 3 products. 1st & 3rd... Hand soap cream wash £5.99 ea inc VAT. 6 pk TP £23.99 ea inc VAT ...at £4 a roll, they can KMA. :-) AND if order less than £30 they charge for delivery Won't embarrass them by naming & shaming. |

Went to several grocery stores looking for TP and bread amongst several other items. All 3 groc stores out of the two I mentioned. Tried my local Wal-Mart & Target SUPER stores also out. Service desk also close at all stores! @=/&&;:÷×\€ hoarding ID10Ts -- it NOT Armageddon or WWIII |

Here is all business as usual. No stores closed and the shelves are not empty. Forgot to check the TP shelf though. Only difference is that very few is shopping today. Strange... |

Went to several grocery stores looking for TP and bread amongst several other items. All 3 groc stores out of the two I mentioned. Tried my local Wal-Mart & Target SUPER stores also out. Service desk also close at all stores!I did that back on the 5th because I was on my last roll and got an 18pk for $10 (I always get these size packs, but usually they're $12) which was 2 days before people were driving ridiculous distances just to raid our little village supermarket so I'm still good for at least 4 months yet, but it's hard for a lot here now to time it right to get any before the shelves are empty again and it's even the same in the larger country towns around here (there arn't that many people living around here in a 50km radius, but we are on highways). They're even knocking off the TP in the pubs and public toilets here now. :-O WTF do these idiots think that they're doing with years worth of them? Maybe they're into breading mice and other vermin as they should know that the authorities will come down hard on those trying to profiteer out of them. But funnily enough though there are those who were stupid enough now be facing prosecution for doing just that in many places around the world with what was on a lot of those empty shelves. I didn't get to see what was over at our little supermarket today as all I did this morning was to get a small packet of weed from the counter, pay my bill and get some cash out (it is Good Friday down here after all), but I'll be over there again for some meat and a few things (nothing that I can't carry in a shopping bag) sometime this weekend so I'll report back on what's happening. ;-) Cheers. |

I could understand the need for toilet paper if we were dealing with something along the lines of cholera, but even then a family of 6 wouldn't need 100 rolls. Grant Darwin NT |

I buy computer printer paper at Costco. I like the 24 lb weight rather than the 20 lb. The manufacturer is Advantage or I think Hewlett Packard., or Xerox . A package of 800 sheets is about $8.00 US. I like the heavier weight and also the brightness of this product. |

All this talk about personal tp supply got me to thinking 🤔 about mine. I bought this one just 1 plastic wrapped packaged at Sam’s Club last year. I’m still using it today. The numbers on the pack read 45 rolls with 275 squares per roll. At the same time I got a pack of paper towels totaling 15 rolls. I didn’t know the paper 🧻 would be at the very scarce now. Now I have to report only one accident. It happened about the middle of November. I fumbled a half roll of loo paper to its drowning death 💀 in the dunny. I said a few choice words while I carefully retrieved the fallen soaked paper. ![]() ![]() |
