There are presently problems with the database so work availability is rather sporadic. Sometimes it's available, sometimes not. Now is one of the not times. Grant Darwin NT |

I have the same problem - no tasks - but it's 6 weeks since your post about intermittent problems with the data base. Is this still the case? Thanks! |

Seti is in hibernation, there is no work other than a handful of resends. SETI@home hibernationhttps://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=85267 |

Ok, just read the above post and went to the corresponding post about SETI@home being in hibernation. Wish it had been sent out as a notice, though. |

Ever since I installed boinc_7.16.5_windows_x86_64 there are no tasks running on my system. I have NEVER had a problem since installing Seti or Bonic back in the 90s. Is this a problem with the update? I removed the install and installed 1.14.2 with the same results so I removed 7.14.2 and reinstalled 7.16.5 but nothing has changed. Windows 8.1 64 system. Before sending I checked my other systems running Bonic that I never updated to 7.16.5 and discovered that non of the other 4 systems are running Bonic at all. Every system was running fine till about the 5th of May 2020. I am not sure I can find this post again so I would like to get an e-mail update if at all possible. Successful people are not without problems, they succeed by finding solutions to those problems! Regards; Jim |

Thank you for the update, was getting worried. I will keep my unit running (dedicated only for SETI) and hopefully soon I will see it running tasks. Or if possible please send out an email when tasks are again available. George A Rogers Oakville, MO. |

Then why let people download if there is nothing going to happen. So I guess we have given up the search huh? Take the download off line then. |

I don't even see SETI@HOME listed in BOINC. Is this correct or did I do something wrong? |

Hi everyone, it has been some time since I have received any tasks from SETI. Now I see they are no longer sending tasks. Too bad. Does anyone know if and or when we will start getting work? I am working MilkyWay and Rosetta but would like to get back to finding ET. Be safe and have fun. Ron |

Does anyone know if and or when we will start getting work? Simple answer is, no. From reading the original announcements it will not be soon, if ever. |

Does anyone know if and or when we will start getting work? I agree we won't be seeing any new work soon. As to what next? Who knows?! Dr A and team have a lot of work yet for themselves in working through the 20 or so years of WUs that we've processed. There is a lot of research to do for that collection. Note that the project in the past has done reanalysis of the WUs as technology and research ideas have advanced. We might get to see some new tests from new insights and new inspiration... And there have been various galactic hydrogen gas mapping projects (and other projects?) that have used the s@h data... Who knows what comes next or what new funding can bring? Or when? Note that recently there is renewed interest at such as the NSF and NASA for searching for (extraterrestrial) 'technosignatures'... Regardless, we have a large community with some fantastic compute power ready for anything new. My random guess is that there is going to be a long pause for thought, and then a new revamp. Watch this site! (And/or leave your Boinc client attached to s@h but doing other useful work from other projects and await the call to reactivate :-) ) Keep searchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Hello to all. Todays date is 09April2021. I just got one of my older machines up and running with Ubuntu 20.04. The first thing i did was to go grab the BOINC stuff and install it, went to find the SETI stuff and guess what i found,.....Its gone! With a little further research i find that you all have gone into Hibernation?,...WHAT?,...REALLY? Disappointment on me. So from what ive seen of this thread, the most of the posts are from last year, can someone tell me if SETI is going to restart? Honestly im not interested in doing anything else. Looking for that little grey bug eyes moon maiden, wow now theres a thought huh,...... Hey SETI,....how about doing this. since there is such a large following, how about transforming some of these old satalite dishes into recievers >of course people will need to buy the LNAs< and have one big antenna the size of the earth, adn then youll need to figure out the networking stuff, all volenteer of course. Ide down for that.....just a thought. welp, ive said Hi to everyone, Everyone take care. ~T~ |
