I have recently installed Windscribe VPN and now Seti@home work units will not transfer when VPN is turned on. I also run Rosetta@home and these WU are not affected so it is something specific to seti. |

So no one has any idea why Seti will not allow connection through VPN? I have also set up SOCKS5 proxy and turned on proxy connection in BOINC. Everything else transfers through it, Rosetta, GPUGRID, World Community Grid. Only Seti will not transfer unless I turn off VPN. It's not a problem to do this I would just like to figure out why and correct it if possible. I assume it has something to do with Berkley servers not being able to identify where the connection is coming from and not allowing the connection. |

@ David B dhb1ibo: I think it is a problem with your computer or the VPN you are using since I have used four different VPN providers with my computers without problems with SETI (or any other sites). Try using a different VPN to see if it is your computer or the VPN provider. Tunnel Bear [https://www.tunnelbear.com} and Windscribe [https://windscribe.com] have free usage for a limited amount of data, and other providers often have trial periods for free. Best wishes. [Edit] My endpoints are all over the world, and I live in Vietnam. SETI doesn't care where the data comes from. |
