I just swapped a Sapphire RX580 into my Mac Pro to replace the stock GeForce GT 120. Now, I get the following message in Boinc: "GPU missing, Waiting to run". How do I remedy this? |

Sounds like you need to install the ATI drivers. |

I just swapped a Sapphire RX580 into my Mac Pro to replace the stock GeForce GT 120. Now, I get the following message in Boinc:The MacPros will not see OpenCL if the cards are in certain PCIe slots. Try changing the PCIe slot the 580 is in. My Mac will not see OpenCL on a 570 unless it's in Slot 2. |

Tried switching to slot 2...still reports the same thing. Which MacPro are you talking about? The only one in your computer list is showing a working RX580, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8829374 BTW, the problem with the slot placement doesn't happen if you just have one GPU, it happens if you have more than one and they are different types. This Mac shows the GTX 970 in slot one doesn't have OpenCL while the GTX 750 Ti in slot two does, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8097309 This one has the RX 570 in slot two and both GPUs show OpenCL, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7199204 Yours shows one GPU having OpenCL, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8829374 |

I have had the same problem with one of my computers I was trying to run remotely without a monitor. I attach a monitor and turn it on and now it computes using the GPU. Not sure if this how you are using this machine or not. |

I have had the same problem with one of my computers I was trying to run remotely without a monitor.Windows requires that a monitor is attached, or that a VGA dummy pin is used before it allows to use the GPU in many cases. Additionally, when you use remote desktop procedure to log into the remote BOINC, this disables the GPU in the running BOINC, because RDP uses its own built-into Windows videocard driver which lacks things as CUDA, OpenCL and other possible computation components. As soon as BOINC detects that RDP is used, it will disable the GPU. If that's the case, use a third party remote program such as Teamviewer or TightVNC instead. These use the user's drivers. |
