Actually, it's worse than those images show. Here's a shot from a different perspective Looking at Google Earth, that gap between the road & the bridge appears to be where the river has carved a new channel, straight through where the road was. Grant Darwin NT |

The lack of wet seasons has been made up for. ;-) I just don't think that we needed so much over such a short time. Cheers. |

With floods to the north and south while a heatwave washes over most of central and the west of the country with bushfires starting up old Sydney town is about to set a cool record. Sydney has longest spell of days below 30 degrees Celsius in 140 years. Cheers. |

I just hope that they're ready for what is still coming down the Darling River. River Murray peak reached in all South Australian towns affected by flooding. And while they plan out what to do after flooding in the north of W.A.. How WA's flood rebuilding efforts could be stymied by a stretched construction sector. The south of the state burns. South West WA bushfires continue to burn for third day as stock losses mount. While on top of this mountain it's getting dry. Stay safe. Cheers. |

Well the system that caused all that flooding in northern W.A. is now assaulting central and northern Queensland. Flash flooding, heavy rain continues to cause damage to Central Queensland towns. Stay safe and dry up there. Cheers. |

Our "Big Wet" has landed across the gutter with devastating effects and breaking records. :-( Three people dead and at least one missing as rain pounds Auckland. And there's more to come yet. Stay safe and dry over there. |

Maybe we sent too much of that wet stuff across the gutter. :-( New Zealand's north island hit by flash floods, landslides for third day, as death roll rises to four. With storm, flash flooding and landslide warnings to continue for another 7 days yet. Stay safe and dry over there. |

For January here we were 0.6C down on the average low, 1.1C up on our avg. max and with just 45.5mm being recorded was well down on the 99.7mm avg. there. Meanwhile another antarctic blast is going to hit down south, but it won't be until Hump Day of next week before we get to feel it here (we'll be baking in the sun before then). :-( Summer snow to bring lowest February temperatures in 18 years. Though we do have almost half on this month's usual rainfall already after 1 day (no wonder the grass is growing again). Now to see what the next 26 and a bit days has in store. Cheers. |

In case anyone is wondering there's still a lot of the far west of the state that's still flooded and could remain that way until March. Ivanhoe still grappling with flood crisis as residents remain isolated due to main road closures. While down in S.A. where it all has to go. Volunteers needed for SA flood clean-up, as some River Murray shack owners take first look at muddied homes. Cheers. |

What's happened to our desserts? Rain gives Central Australian cattle producers confidence in 'exceptional' year ahead. Cheers. |

The wild wet weather hasn't quite left us yet. Flash flooding and rescues in Sydney, Illawarra as parts of South Coast cop 300mm of rain. Dubbo left without power as hailstorm hits, emergency crews respond to multiple calls for assistance. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

For those up at the top end (of the land down under) you guys'n'girls better be prepared. Tropical cyclone watch issued as low intensifies over waters in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

Well it didn't want to visit here so it headed across the gutter. Severe weather warnings are in place across much of New Zealand as the country begins to endure the severe wrath of Cyclone Gabrielle. Stay safe and dry over there. Cheers. |

Things get serious across the gutter. New Zealand declares National State of Emergency due to former tropical cyclone Gabrielle. I'd still call it a cyclone at 966 millibars. Stay safe and dry over there. Cheers. |

As another cyclone is predicted to form up north, across the gutter they're counting the costs of the last. :-( New Zealand authorities confirm four deaths, including a child, as ex-Cyclone Gabrielle moves away. |

Thankfully living on top of a mountain range has its advantages. Every state and territory will cop a heatwave this weekend with some areas possibly even topping 50C. 30-31C temps here will be bad enough. Stay cool. Cheers. |

Meanwhile down in S.A. they've decided that the gates can now be closed to stop saltwater running back into the Murray River after months of being open. Murray River barrage gates closed by SA Water as flows continue to drop. Cheers. |

Across the gutter the death toll sadly hits 5 as the rain continues. Emergency crews continue efforts to rescue those stranded in New Zealand's worst flood-hit areas. Stay safe and dry over there. |

Sadly the death toll across the gutter has reached 8 with authorities expecting that number to rise further. :-) New Zealanders are taught to prepare for disaster. Ex-Cyclone Gabrielle is an enormous test. New Zealanders in parts of the North Island are low on cash, lining up for food and fuel and running out of fresh water. |
