Adelaide its self maybe down on rainfall but we do have our huge desalination plant we can rely on, but
the farmers who are hundreds of km's from the CBD and not connected and solely rely on rainfall is very concerning..

Our Desal Plant runs at 10% ( 8 out of 12 months ) Winter does not run..

Well, the numbers are in.
It was the driest wet season in 27 years and the hottest on record.

Across the Territory, rainfall was 34 per cent below the long-term October to April average this season and many NT sites, including Tennant Creek and Darwin River Dam, recorded their lowest season rainfall on record.
The Darwin River Dam, which supplies water to the Darwin metropolitan area, is 75 per cent full — whereas this time last year it was 98 per cent full.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Nick Loveday said temperature-wise, the NT-wide maximum daytime temperature was over 2.5 degrees Celsius above the long-term average.

Our 2nd fully overcast start in a row, but those small shower cells are steering clear of us so far and we need at least 150mm to get close to our next driest year on my records.

It was 13-20C here yesterday (with the easterly knocking 2-3C off) and it was 12C here this morning with 21C being our expected max. It's currently 15C here while the easterly breeze knocks 1-2C off that (as another shower cell passes to the north of us, but I can see it).

Today kicked off here at a very overcast 10C (felt like 9C) with patches of misty drizzle though the mercury did briefly hit the 19C mark (felt like 16C) during the early afternoon, while I had 3 beers at the top pub with lunch.

Then just as I got back there for dinner (and 3 more beers during happy hour) it lightly rained here for 90mins, but it's just back to patches of fine drizzle now and it's also down to 14C (feels like 12C) now. I do hope though that we get a bit more lite rain before the expected heavy rain around sunrise gets here or there will be a lot of top soil washed down into the river.

More rain and a possible thunderstorm are also expected for tomorrow, but I should get a good load of washing finally out on the line on Sunday.

We have a wet start here today and ATM it's getting wetter, but I came across a memory from 4yrs ago.

After doing some record searching that year proved to be near average for here and at this time of year back then we had had MTD: 48.5mm & YTD: 313.5mm, but back in 2017 we had MTD:2.5mm & YTD:593mm.

Today we're at MTD:2.5mm & YTD:138.5mm. :-(

We kicked off here at 13C and 17C is our expected while tomorrow should be a good wash day with a temp range of 3-17C, there's also a good chance of getting our 1st frost in the morning.

After getting 10mm of rain here yesterday we got our 1st frost for this year this morning.

It was a clear 1C (felt like -1C) when I got up, but we should be getting close to double digits by the time I go to hang out the washing that's in the washing machine now (it was 7C out there when I started that) and a sunny 16C is our expected max.

[edit] It was good that I put a blanket on the bed last night.

The mercury here reached 16C (felt like 11C), but that's now back to 7C (feels like 4C), and a frosty 2C is expected in the morning.

In fact morning frosts are expected here for at least the next 5 days, but at least sunny days usually follow them.

Yesterday morning was our first non frosty start for this week (it did get down to 1C overnight, but it was a windy 7C before sunrise), but we did make it to 18C (though the wind was knocking 5-6C off that).

The weekend here got off to a sort of frosty 1C (where the wind was blowing there was no frost and it felt like -3C) and currently it's 7C, but it feels like 0C out in that wind (yes it's snowing at the southern edge of this range again because that's where this wind is coming from). We're expecting a max of 13C (less windchill) here today (at least it is sunny ATM).

Well Sunday's extreme frost has turned our once lush green oval to totally brown now, but we should be free of any frosts until next week (no sign of any proper rain though).

Got home from a trip to Brisbane to find it was hotter and more humid than when I left.
Apparently the cyclone over QLD way with the highs in the Great Australian Bight have resulted in surge of unseasonal moisture up this way. Should be back to the dry season again tomorrow or the next day.

The leaves here have been on the ground for almost 2 weeks now and we havn't had a frost in the last week, but the frosts should be back by the weekend.

We got started here this morning at 7C (felt like 5C) and 18C is our expected max.

Apart from tonight (24°c) we're expecting 23°c to 33°c for the whole week. Quite a bit above average, but at least the humidity has dropped off again to more normal levels for this time of the year.

Been a bit blowy here the last few days. Not unusual this time of the year to be windy, but 30km/h with gusts to 40km/h is a bit windier than usual.

We've been frost free here for the last week with daytime maximums in the 16-19C range, but that will likely change from Tuesday onwards with severe frosts expected with lows of -1C to -4C and maximums in the 11-14C range with plenty of windchill involved.
