Thanks Keith does it majorly effect Power usage?

The more work a card does, the more power it will use.

if the GPU load is all already 90 – 100 % how can it do more work

Depends on how you are measuring your gpu utilization. If using Windows and Windows tools, they focus on testing for gaming utilization. When we run computational loads on our cards, an entire part of the gpu isn't even used. I would tend to believe the power usage and utilization numbers from nvidia-smi over what GPU-Z may report.

If you are using a command line that only uses 50% of the cores and memory for crunching a task, it will work harder when it is using the full 100 % capability of the card by crunching across all the SM units in the card. The 1070 Ti has 19 SM units so an -unroll 19 command would use more power than a -unroll 12 command which I believe is the default unroll in the Lunatics installer.

It may or may not do more- you'll just need to keep an eye on things.

Also part of the issue with many of the utilities is while they might show the GPU loading at 90%, many of the processing units may not be fully utilised.
If the GPU load shows 90%, and it's Power Consumption shows 90%, then it's pretty well loaded. But if the GPU load shows 90%, but Power Consumption is only 50%, then a lot of the GPU isn't actually being put to use.

Thanks Keith and Grant for your input. I have been using the default 8.22 for a considerable time now. I find it slightly faster than the optimised app.

The difference between the stock 8.22 SoG app and the Lunatics optimized SoG app is in the version level.

8.22 SoG = r3584
Lunatics SoG = r3557

The r3584 version is the latest version. Raistmer says the only difference between the two is the r3584 makes more concessions for lower performance hardware.

When you open your account page, you can either click on Computers or Tasks. If you click on Tasks, it presents you ALL the tasks on your account across ALL Computers. Then click on AP tasks and then page through the tasks with the Next 20 and count up all the tasks sent for yesterday's UTC date. That gives you all the In Progress, Validation Pending, Validation Inconclusive, Valid, Invalid and Errors for all the AP tasks.

Ah, the 24th gave me one, life is good. I do remember when many years ago that was all I did and never ran out of work.
