I heard about the SETI@Home project from the Science Channel. I'm just getting my toes wet as an astronomy hobbyist. The BOINC software is running on my laptop (Macbook Pro), and there doesn't seem to be any problems with it; however, I'm wondering what, if anything, do I need to do myself? Is it important that I observe any data, or monitor the graph? Do I just let the software run independently? Any tips or recommendations? Thanks |

SETI@Home is designed to really be a project that requires very little user interaction. BOINC will handle all the task management. All you really need to do is make sure it has an internet connection. I can see you have downloaded 48 tasks, both for your CPU and your internal Intel GPU. If you want to look at you task list just click on your name in the top right of the screen , then select "Tasks -> View." This will allow you to keep a check. Also feel free to ask any questions, there are many people here who have been running SETI@Home for many years . |

Thanks for the answer Bernie Vine -- just what I wanted to know. I'm glad my computer can be of help to people who actually know what they're doing, but I didn't directly sign up for any of those tasks. Does the software do that automatically? |

Does the software do that automatically? Once you have installed BOINC and then connected to a project, yes the tasks are downloaded and processed automatically. |
