Can someone please explain the following in the best_gaussian section of the state.sah file: 1. What is the bg_score? 2. What is a good bg_score versus an unimportant bg_score? 3. What is the relationship and/or correlation between the bg_score, the chisqr, and the peak_power? 4. What might be the values of these three items in a highly promising result? Thanks! :-) |

Bg = background. Everything else is relative to that. The main thing is that when that point in the sky is revisted over time similar results are found. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Thank you, Rob. Would you be able to explain what the difference between background scores of, for example, a -5.0000, a -1.0000, a 0.0000, a 1.0000 and a 5.0000? In other words, I am trying to understand how the various bg_score values are determined, and how they relate to the chi square and peak power values. Also, which of those scores would be a more likely candidate to revisit? |
