On average about how much data does Seti@Home use in a month because my data usage spike dramatically ever since I installed this, I was using on average 80-120GB/month before, then I installed this in mid December & I used 441GB & this month January I used 1082GB putting me over the 1TB of data Comcast alows me to use, luckily they give you 2 courtesy overage months before they start charging $10/50GB you go over. So the only thing I can think of that caused the spike was this, can that really be it? I also started getting Hulu at the beginning of Dec but I only watch that on average 2 hours a day, so I know that added some to it but nowhere near what I'm seeing in data usage. |

The most work units I saw your single computer completing in a day is 10. A standard work unit is about 300KB, and the result about 10-30KB if I remember correctly. So if you did that for a whole month, you'd use about 10,230KB or about 10MB of network data. This is one-hundredth of a gigabyte, so about one-hundred-thousandth of your usage in January. So, it's definitely not this project and I would strongly suggest checking your network for unauthorized usage. If you have WiFi on your network ie in your cablemodem or router, use WPA2 not WPA and definitely not WEP as the security on it, and change your WiFi password. |
