Really?... The end of Windows 10?!! Hi Martin, And here I thought, back in 2015, that WINDOWS 10 was going to be the last Winders coming out of Redmond, Washington. So much for thinking... :-\ Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. And here I thought, back in 2015, that WINDOWS 10 was going to be the last Winders coming out of Redmond, Washington. So much for thinking... :-\ Ahhhh... But it is still "Windows 10"... It is just being arbitrtraily re-painted and re-badged... Is this just the Marketing division unimaginatively desperately clinging onto old ways? The Microsoft Sales Team will be hungrily dribbling over the new packaging and merchandising 'opportunities'... IT is what we allow it to be... While they keep the OS and change the paint job, they will also completely change how every administration task is completed, wasting untold millions of hours of prior training and experience. So they can sell new training and certification. |

Greetings, Well, here's a video of Windows 11 from PC World. I watched the video and even though I hate Winders and Micro$oft, I was impressed with the changes except for one glaring discovery; the app windows are no longer re-sizable. The questions I now have are these: Will Micro$oft "give" it away like they did with Winders 10? What will be the EOL for Winders 10? Why does Windows 11 look so much like Winders 10 just with a new suit on? Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Well I may be an "old dog" but I still like moving with the times and learning "new tricks" Having watched some "unofficial" reviews I will definitely give it a try as soon as it is released. I suspect it will find its way onto any of my machines that will take it. Looks like a big step forward in quality of life improvements and rumor has it it might even "game" a bit better, looks a bit like Vista which was always my favourite. |

I'm very leery of the latest rebadging for that which is nominally called "Windows 11" for the sake of:

I have a very small, cheap, low-power Celeron device, which I use for testing. It cost under £200, including the Windows 10 Pro licence. I used it to illustrate a WCG GPU problem (we discussed it in this forum), which involved installing an Intel profiling tool. That hooked itself into the Microsoft account (which I'd allowed to be set up for testing, too - fat lot of advertising revenue they're going to get out of that). Then, Intel tried to use the Microsoft cloud storage as temporary workspace - and tried to use more than Microsoft would allow me to use without paying a surcharge. So I fixed their problem by disabling the account and disentangling the registry entries for the cloud storage. Now, it persists in showing me: ![]() |

Windows 11 could turn its nose up at your CPU If your chip's not on the list, you're not coming in. Even you, Surface Studio 2 |

Well, for what it's worth, my i7 7700K CPU DOES support TPM 2.0. I DON'T know if the straight up 7000 does, though. (A good maybe on that one....) A friend of mine and my dad both have i7 7700 Systems. Even though my System DOES support TPM 2.0, I'd have to investigate the Hackintosh Community and see what restrictions there may be to my Dual Boot MacOS Mojave 10.14.6, and Win 7 Pro x64 System - IF I choose to think about upgrading to Win 11. It's already complicated enough to set a MOBO BIOS properly just to get MacOS to boot properly... I don't know what ramifications in activating TPM 2.0 on my Gigabyte GA-H270-HD3 MOBO would be to MacOS. IF anyone has knowledge in this area, I'd greatly appreciate feedback on this. TL [EDIT:] Well in reading the Article Linked in the last Post, "Secure Boot" MUST be 'Enabled' for Win 11 to run.... I CANNOT find that Setting mentioned in my current open Hackintosh Tabs in Firefox; BUT, IF memory serves, (without actually rebooting my machine and going into my BIOS to check), I believe that "Secure Boot" is 'Disabled' for Clover Hackintoshes. So, I WON'T be moving to Win 11. However; I WILL be investing into a Win 10 Pro DVD Installer before the end of the year so that I MAY be able to have a copy on hand for the eventuality of moving up to 10. Looks like there might be a way around the TPM 2.0 requirement. At least until MS, in their infinite wisdom, decides to protect us from ourselves. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-bypass-the-windows-11-tpm-20-requirement/ |

An interesting view: You don't HAVE to get Windows 11! wrote: ... 10 days of windows 11... TWO DECADES later and... A lot has happened in those two decades: Microsoft Quietly Released Its Own Linux Distro wrote: Nobody tell Steve Ballmer... What of Windows 10 and Windows 11?... Is this another example of how Microsoft Windows is so suspiciously 'easy' to 'pirate'?... Microsoft does and doesn't want you to know it won't stop you manually installing Windows 11 on older PCs wrote: Microsoft doesn't want to say it publicly but it will not stop you manually installing Windows 11 on older or otherwise incompatible PCs... Meanwhile, we have a gaping wide open hole that so far, is not to be fixed!
