Ah, oh to be in England now that summer's here. The temperature is, by our standards fairly warm, but we are currently getting somewhat more than the usual amount of thunderstorms. For the last few days we've had a "good rumble" every late afternoon, running throughout the evening and today is no exception. Today we are running in the tens of strikes per minute, and those are only the ones within ear shoot of where I am. In the hour or so before the storms start the humidity climbs steadily form "damp under the arms" to "running down my back" - I'm not sure what that is in real numbers as I don't have a hygrometer to hand. It actually gets more comfortable once the rain starts, as the temperature drops very slightly. Apparently the southern tier of the USA is due for extended 100 degree F with no overnight cool downs. A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Yesterday's weather was "interesting": Ranging from 5C with low cloud and a 50mph "breeze" blowing to a pleasant 23C with clearish skies and virtually no wind - oh, and being the UK there was some rain in the mix. Today's weather is a lot calmer with the temperature around 18C, fairly complete cloud cover and a really gentle breeze, but this being the UK rain is expected a bit later on in the day. 18 miles west of Seattle the fire smoke is the thickest of the year and so far the 2nd worst I can recall ever. |

58°F/14°C. Fair. Humidity = 67%. Down to 49°F, tonight. It's hard to fathom the heat and fires on the west coast (I live in MA). I slipped on some moss, on a sidewalk in Seattle's North Broadway district, in the '60's. |
