Does anyone know if a chromebook runs BOINC properly?I’m thinking about getting my 6 years old a chromebook and he wants to participate SETI home with it. Any comment will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! ID: 1964816 ·  |

Thank you! You would have to "sideload" Linux and then install Linux Bonic from there. My Chromebook has a very limited CPU, limited ram and limited gpu. It would be technically easier to get him one of the Chromebook like (cheap) Windows laptops and install BOINC under Windows. The processing will not be fast. I would also install a temperature limiter so that Seti can't fry the Laptop. I like TThrottle from the Seti addons page. I have not tried to "sideload" Linux onto my Chromebook because I have 2 other laptops that I could play with under Seti. None of them are fast processors by any parameter.
