Hi all, I founded a team years ago, and it has good number of members and a nice credit. The email address that I'm using on SETI is a private email and its domain was out of service for months (long story!). I didn't remember the SETI's password and weren't able to reset it, because of the unavailable email. During the time, someone hijacked the foundership of the team. Now I got my email running again and logged into the system, but how can I get my team back? Thanks in advance! |

Hijacked is a tad extravagant. In the event that the team founder becomes inactive or unavailable, it is possible to request team foundership to be transferred to another member. To do that the member who wants to be the new founder has to select the option Initiate transfer in the team's page. If another user hasn't requested the transfer within the last 3 months, an option to request the transfer will be presented. Otherwise a date of the previous request will be shown. What you can do is approach the person who is now team founder by private message, tell him you're back and not going anywhere and ask him to transfer ownership back to him. Or initiate your own transfer ownership from the team's page. In a personal opinion - perhaps it's better to have an active member be team founder, seeing how the new team founder is actually doing work for the project and you aren't. |

Thanks for reply Ageless. I did try to contact him. no reply. About the second part, while I agree with the idea of putting an active member as admin (not founder! founder should always be who in first place has founded the team!) , I cannot appreciate stealing. Taking over, without permission, is stealing. Perhaps something that SETI@Home admins need to think about! I'll be thankful for a comment from one of the admins. |

Just to update the topic, I got a reply from the new contact person. I think the delay to receive a reply from him caused a misunderstanding. I should have waited a bit more, before accusing anyone of anything inappropriate. I'll update further about how it all went. |

I've received the foundership back, with a kind message from the holder of it. I would like to thank him in public! Also I apologize because of jumping into conclusions impatiently. @Dear SETI@Home Admins: as a feature request, I would suggest adding "admin" to the teams, to be able to transfer the administration of a team without losing foundership. If such feature became available, I would happily transfer it to the same person who hold the foundership for a while. @Dear forum admins: thread could be marked as SOLVED. Thank you all |

That option has been there for a long time already. Administer team, add/removr team admins: Give selected team members Team Admin privileges |
