Oh my...if that isn't patience, I don't know what is. I would have become so frustrated I'd have taken a hammer to that mobo.. ;-) Humans may rule the world...but bacteria run it... |

I think we all have been at that point several times over the years in our own builds. Normally it is just perseverance, stubborness, or just walking away from the project for a night of good sleep and the solution comes to us to get the build up and running. Good tale. $70-$80 Generic GTX 1060 3 GB's are available on eBay. Most of the time they ship from the far east (China or Hongkong). eBay warns of "extended" shipping times. I got lucky and found a US Shipper last night so I ordered one. There is a possiblity that the card is incorrectly labeled (might be a 1050 for instance). I will report back once I have it. This means I might be able to put up 3 1060's on my "under repair box" [waiting on new MB] (if one of the slower PCI's slots has a cut in the back so I can shoehorn three in). Or failing that, put a 1060 back into one of the boxes that are now running gtx 750Ti's. :) Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

People from Hong Kong and China sometimes say they ship from the US, but then the goods are shipped "on a slow boat" from China. I've experienced that a couple of times myself. Humans may rule the world...but bacteria run it... |

$70-$80 Generic GTX 1060 3 GB's are available on eBay. More likely a GT 1030, one of the slow ones. GT 1030 abomination benchmarked. Grant Darwin NT |

Malware hits TSMC The end result is 1 weeks loss of production across multiple production lines. So those of us waiting to see what Nvidia's latest & greatest is capable of, will have to wait an extra week for the already delayed products to finally arrive. And for those with lots of data to move around. Affordable 10GbE NIC Hopefully this will help hasten the arrival of affordable 10GbE switches. Grant Darwin NT |

Hopefully this will help hasten the arrival of affordable 10GbE switches.Amen, brother! Yeah, it's roughly $100 per port for a copper 10GbE switch here in Australia. Fibre & management features rapidly boost the cost from there. Grant Darwin NT |

$70-$80 Generic GTX 1060 3 GB's are available on eBay. These cards come with 172 Shaders. Maybe half hour per task under Windows. GPU-Z lookup reports them as "fake" Gtx 1060 3GB's. There is a label on them that says "GTX 1060 3GBD5" on both of the cards I got. And the device drivers report gtx 1060. One of the cards (I am not sure about the other since I have tested on two machines) actually has preboot bios that installs calling itself a gtx 1060 etc. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b5557/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-fake-card I am disappointed, these aren't even as fast as a gtx 750Ti :( but not really surprised, not for $70-$80. So the question becomes are ALL the listings at that price range on eBay for "fake" cards? Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

$70-$80 Generic GTX 1060 3 GB's are available on eBay. Hi Tom, Somewhere, not this thread, but somewhere I mentioned that I do not and will not buy from eBay. I don't care if the description says it's brand new in the original shrink wrap packaging, I won't buy. I very seldom ever go to their site when looking for stuff. I have seen too many stories, such as yours, that pertain to a purchase on eBay. I wouldn't buy a box of crayons from eBay. My heart goes out to you dude. :( Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I understand. Its a matter of choosing good vendors and good merchandise. I have gotten any number of good things from eBay. I have always gotten refunds for "fake" non-shipping merchandise. I strongly suspected these cards were not Gtx 1060's. And the seller never, ever claimed they were. He made a number of statements that taken together said "these are fake 1060's" but I didn't catch that part of the information. I got very good service from the seller. I am happy for the experience. Now I am reselling them with a headline of "Fake gtx 1060 3GB" with a starting price at a 50% discount ($35). :) Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Some excellent news- Not only is GPU mining over, it's not expected to make a comeback in the foreseeable future. Nvidia acknowledges death of GPU cryptomining. Grant Darwin NT |

Interesting to read confirmation of the rumors that Nvidia had overproduced chips for mining. I also read an article that said orders for ASIC mining was taking off with 5 different mining chip producers reporting a surge in chip orders. One behemoth leaves the market and the little guys step up. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours ![]() ![]() A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Yea, I saw nvidia took a big turn down in the stock market when that article came out. |

Memory Prices May Plunge 25 Percent In 2019 Will hope that is the case for a validated rumor too. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours ![]() ![]() A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Memory Prices May Plunge 25 Percent In 2019 Yep. Noises are it's mostly NAND memory, but as prices for that drop production may be moved over to RAM, which will hopefully bring those prices down as well. Analysts say we are headed for a flash memory price crash Grant Darwin NT |

I am seeing used GTX 1060 3GB's for about $150 on eBay. The GTX 1080Ti's are running in the $500 range. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
