Erdogan must protect his interests, but at the same time he must be a vassal to Russia and the USA.

Are Daesh defeated in Syria? Guess not.

Indeed. You're not wrong.

A Lebanon journalist took a "field trip" to southeast Syria the other day.
Battle far from over. 1000s of Daesh still there.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/986329709091983360.html
SDF Syrian Democratic Forces and Americans.
SAA Syrian Armed Forces and Russians.
ISIS Daesh.

+Turkish Army in Afrin.
+ occasionally an attack by the Israeli army

If I forgot something, add it to you.
And as the journalist from Lebanon who was in Deir Ezzor, this happen.
Iraqi F16 plane crossed into Syrian airspace on Thursday and bombed several Daesh positions in Syria, a spokesman for the Iraqi military told Reuters news agency.
According to brigadier Yahya Rasul, the bombings was with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's approval and both countries' military personnel should have coordinated the attack.

World leaders would like to claim victory over Daesh, but in fact, internationally terrorist jihadists continue to fight in several places.
Opposition Syrian Human Rights Observatory (SOHR), working from the UK, reports on unrest in the Syrian province of Deir al-Zor (Deir Ezzor).
According to SOHR, up to 40 people have been killed in clashes in the city of al-Mayadin. Of the dead, 25 are assigned
to the regim, while 13 belonged to Daesh.

LOL:) Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria "Majsa" Zakharova again.
Well. Finding containers With Chlorine is quite common in countries like in the Middle East and the Tropics.
Chlorine is used to make water disinfectious to the public.
Majsa, look further and you would most likely also find containers from Russia:)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorine

Chlorine gas, also known as bertholite, was first used as a weapon in World War I by Germany on April 22, 1915 in the Second Battle of Ypre.

When used at specified levels for water disinfection, the reaction of chlorine with water is not a major concern for human health. Other materials present in the water may generate disinfection by-products that are associated with negative effects on human health.
Elemental chlorine is commercially produced from brine by electrolysis. The high oxidising potential of elemental chlorine led to the development of commercial bleaches and disinfectants, and a reagent for many processes in the chemical industry. Chlorine is used in the manufacture of a wide range of consumer products, about two-thirds of them organic chemicals such as polyvinyl chloride, and many intermediates for the production of plastics and other end products which do not contain the element. As a common disinfectant, elemental chlorine and chlorine-generating compounds are used more directly in swimming pools to keep them clean and sanitary. Elemental chlorine at high concentrations is extremely dangerous and poisonous for all living organisms, and was used in World War I as the first gaseous chemical warfare agent.

The United Nations Security Council’s annual brainstorm usually takes place in upstate New York, but Sweden offered to host it this year and do something a bit different.
Former Secretary General Dag Hammarskjöld would after completion of the UN mission settle down in Backåkra, Skåne.
But he died in a flight accident in Africa in 1961 and never had the opportunity to settle down on his farm in Österlen.
Now the UN Security Council will visit Dag Hammarskjöld's residence Backåkra.
The atmosphere among UN ambassadors in the Security Council could have been significantly better before the weekend's work meeting in Skåne.
The management of the Syrian war is expected to be an important issue at the meeting - and according to Sweden's Radio, the UN Special Syrian Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, will attend.

Hasan Diab, the Syrian boy who has been documented in a video by non-governmental organization White Helmets about the alleged chemical weapons attack in Duma, should speak at the UN Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said Thursday.
Evgeny Poddubny's report on the chemical "weapons attack" by the White Helmets and the rebels.
Also interview with Douma hospital staff and footage from the abandoned terrorists' chemical lab.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has claimed that Moscow dictated where U.S., British and French forces were allowed to attack in the weekend's airstrikes on suspected Syrian chemical weapons facilities, Sky News reported.

Coalition forces destroyed three storage and production sites in response to an alleged April 7 chemical attack on civilians that killed at least 40 people in the rebel-held city of Douma, near Damascus.

Russia, which supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, denies that a chemical attack took place. Investigators from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are trying to reach Douma to establish what happened, but are struggling to gain access.

I wonder who or what is holding OPCW back.
Even CBS News have been at the site in Douma.
Even seen a grenade from the attack at a balcony.
Filled with gas or not or was the grenade put there by purpose. Who can tell.

"It's my biggest disappointment after five years as a deputy secretary general to see how bad the Syrian issue has been handled ," said Jan Eliasson today, former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
He proposed that every member in the UN Security Council should lock them self in, in a building like during elections of a pope and don't leave until they signal a white smoke coming out of the chimney!

Well, the UN Security Council is here in Lund, Sweden right now with protection gears:)

The Security Council Peruvian President Gustavo Meza-Cuadra says today that the member states have taken steps towards establishing a dialogue on Syria after the end of the meeting in Backåkra in Skåne, Sweden.
Swedish UN Ambassador Olof Skoog earlier held a press conference at Malmö Airport. In spite of deep crevices, the Security Council's member states have agreed on three priority issues for further work, according to Skoog.
To seriously come back to a political solution, to work under the UN-led process.
To do much more about the humanitarian situation. Including the resolution previously presented by Sweden and Kuwait, accepted in February.
To solve the issue of chemical weapons.
We will work hard the coming days and weeks to agree on a sensible mechanism to find out if these weapons exist and who in such cases carry the responsibility, he says.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres says in an interview in the SVT's Agenda that it is obviously naive to believe that the UN can, in any magical way, solve all problems in Syria.
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/utrikes/guterres-i-agenda
"In Syria there are several different armies, all kinds of militias, there are fighting from all over the world, different interests are confronted, there is the cold war, there is the gap between sunni and shia, there are other cracks between different parts of the region ... it is obviously naive to believe that the UN can magically solve all these problems, especially when the Security Council is so fragmented, "he said.

Israel says it has struck almost all of Iran's military infrastructure inside Syria in its biggest assault since the start of the civil war there.
Only Iranian targets?
Israel missile also destroyed a freshly-delivered Russian SAM Pantsir-S1 (Sa-22 Greyhound) system at Mezzeh Military Airport only 3.8 kilometres from Assad's palace in Damascus.
