This is a new bug for me. I found it dying in my house, no doubt a victim of abuse by the cats. If any of you want to try to identify it, feel free. I live in central Texas (west of Waco). I have submitted pix to a Facebook group of entymologists. I dug through pix on a couple of websites but had no luck. I suspect it is some sort of fly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ~Sue~ ![]() |

This year's marina pet spiders are doing well, despite the "best endevours" of the marina's assistant manager... ![]() Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I finally saw a sight I wasn’t expecting. It was a wasp that had stung a spider almost as big as it. The wasp was dragging the spider somewhere. Edit: looked at some pictures and decided it might be a Orange and Black Spider Wasp. ![]() ![]() |

Super tough spider silk could be due to a newly discovered protein. It can be strong like steel, yet stretchy like rubber. It's lightweight but can be phenomenally tough. Grant Darwin NT |

I finally saw a sight I wasn’t expecting. It was a wasp that had stung a spider almost as big as it. The wasp was dragging the spider somewhere. I have black wasps that fly around my house all the time. I wondered about them until, several years ago, I saw one get caught in a spider's web. I was sad for the wasp until I saw the spider run up to claim its prize and the wasp stung it and carried it away. Wow! Now that I think about it, I was so mesmerized by the sight that I don't think I was ever sad for the spider. ~Sue~ ![]() |

From Gizmodo: Go Ahead, Share Your Most Revolting Bug-Eating Stories Reader, let me ask you an honest question: When’s the last time you ate a bug, wittingly or otherwise? |

From Gizmodo: Go Ahead, Share Your Most Revolting Bug-Eating Stories I don't recall ever having eaten a bug. I did have a somewhat disgusting experience once. I was driving on a country road in Germany in the Spring or Summer (don't recall). I had my window open. A bee flew in and splatted on the left lens of my glasses. I believe if I hadn't been wearing glasses I might be half blind right now. Poor bee. Lucky Sue. ~Sue~ ![]() |
