The padding. Is it to protect the thing held from you or to protect you from it. If it allows you to have one hand free what do you do with that free hand? |

This just goes to show how a familiar(to me) item can be very mysterious to others. Since there's no official name for this tool that I know of(I call it a book weight), the win goes to Carlos, as he came closest to it's function. PM on the way. And here it is in action holding open one of my books: ![]() ![]() |

I was not thinking books. I use rubberized bean bags to hold down charts and plans. Holing open a book is different. But thank you for the win. Let's see who can figure this one out. ![]() ![]() |

Clearly a potato flattener |

Not a potato flattener/chip maker. It could do that but so could your foot. Yes it is a wooden clamp but that is only part of it. There are two pieces to this complex machine. No not for furniture making nor dismantling it. ![]() |

Bookbinding-Plough-Handmade-Beech press? That is it! Wow I was sure this would take longer. But after a tool to keep pages apart it was time for a tool to hold them together. PM Sent. |

Could put a can of spam in it. Is it for hanging something up or holding something in place? Or even tent poles |
