I've processed some tasks, but no credit is appearing on my account. Is this not how you get credit or is it a personal bug? If it is not how you get credit, how do you do so?

Credit is awarded when you complete tasks, and those tasks are validated.
Inevitably, when someone who hasn't got any gained any credit asks the question credit arrives before someone sees the question and answers it - as in your case!
