Downloaded this today and tried installing it. Halfway through the installation process a message comes up indicating an invalid path to the BOINC.MSI file. I manually go to the location (Windows/Downloaded Installations/ file) and select the appropriate MSI file and I receive a message that it is not the proper installation package. I downloaded the dual file for boinc and vbox because I realize you must update both. Now I don't have SETI running at all. This is not fun. The last release (7.8.2) I cannot run on my brand new laptop (AMD processor) as it won't run and I've been running an old one so I can at least participate. My desktop doesn't have any issues running 7.8.2. I am pretty good with computers (no expert) and have done all the usual troubleshooting but cannot get these issues resolved (most notably the 7.8.3 issues). I'm seriously thinking of packing it in because of the time wasted trying to get the last two software packages running in some form or another (been doing Seti since 1999 if memory serves). I'd rather not pack it in and stop participating so PLEASE, if you have solutions, share them! Thank you! |

See https://boinc.mundayweb.com/wiki/index.php?title=Windows_Installer_Error_1706:_Setup_cannot_find_the_required_files and use either option 1 (reinstall the same installer package as before), or option 2 (use the Microsoft program to uninstall lost programs). |
