Hello Seti-Crew, today I read in a profile: "Please update the GUI for Seti - we have the year 2017"! I would like to reiterate this wish. The value for new commitment for seti is not expressed in credits. It becomes valuable when the research and the own work becomes transparent and comprehensible. This goes with a good GUI with history and evaluation. I ask the Seti crew to think about this. Thanks - Klaus Schulz |

I'm confused about what is being asked for here. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

Hi All... Maybe I am being pedantic, but right should be right, always...Developers are not gods, they are human, maybe!!! But they made a mistake...using the word "Don't" is wrong, and for as long as I draw breath, it will be wrong... It is my duty to point this out, it is confusing and it is wrong, and it has to be changed..If not then SETI is a joke...Which it is not..One good thing my late mom taught me, "Don't complain if you cannot provide useful constructive alternative solution".. I have provided not 1 but 2... In fact the interface is upside down, the bottom 1/3 should be at the top...If someone wants to teach me coding, I can show you...Using toggles and bad phrasing leads to confusion... What is wrong with using a tick/check/radio button instead of a toggle? The toggle unless it has a direct effect on the interface is a silly way to code, check/tick is the same thing as a toggle, it is an invisible/visible toggle, and adds a couple of lines of code.. If A=true then allow or If B=true then deny download, A=YES, B=NO... There is nothing bad in my suggestions, and I checked the website and there is nowhere to voice my complaint, suggestion, I tried twitter first, hand on heart, and the social department person/s chose not to respond... So it is up to me to make change happen...The moderators have only 2 choices..1=voice my concerns/suggestions to the developers, 2=Don't pass it on and delete my posts here... SETI@Home is great, I want to make a contribution, and making the very minor change from "Don't allow" under Project Properties to "Allow...YES...NO [with associated radio/check/tick boxes] makes every sense in the new year.... I would love to know the design reasons for the chosen GUI, which is upside-down/backwards/inverted, whatever...Just needs to be made better.... I just want to point out, someone sent me a PM and a link to a bug report wiki...It seems there is no way to report my issue...so what does that mean? The tone of the wiki..I assume BOINC property, the tone is one of resentment...Of we know best and will not listen to any suggestions...The developer in doing this makes it so hard to want to help... Why is there no email to sent ideas to? We will strip all attachment and limit you to 1MB...that is hateful and spiteful..It speaks of hating the community...Why have such a terrible attitude???? THE GUI IS UPSIDE-DOWN.... The GUI is faulty, it has too many faults and we are 30 days from 2018, SETI has no work at the moment for seti-citizens to crunch....please fix the GUI so that it makes sense... GET RID OF..the word "don't" under project property...ALLOW...[x]YES......[_]NO, and ban the use of toggles for all input on the GUI.... THE GUI IS UPSIDE-DOWN...Developer.coder who thought the GUI works..please explain why the GUI is backwards/upside-down... Justine |

The "SETI crew" do not design the GUI, that is under the control of BOINC, you comments would be best addressed to the BOINC people. Have a look around the main BOINC forum, you may find some there who can help - https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_index.php Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Stop spamming your "complaint", this is a NEWS thread to do with server performance, not one to discuss the layout of the GIU (Which GUI? There are at least two involved, neither of which is under the control of the "SETI crew", but under the control of the BOINC project) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

The GUI is faulty, it has too many faultsBOINC is an open source, community driven software. It has no staff anymore, only volunteer programmers. If you have any changes, updates or anything like that, and you have the capability to do so, add it to code and make it a Github Issue or pull request (the latter for ready code only). An example web page with the code running as you like to see it would make more sense than yelling that the user interface is upside-down. |

No, I do not mean the Boinc graphic interface! I mean the Seti graphics part that I can select in the Boinc software. I can not understand how to confuse that. I wrote Seti, not Boinc. Why do not you work on it? Make Seti more attractive - then more people come and we need more people to put their time to work. Why are these relationships so difficult to understand? Seti is boring! Makes it attractive! |

Suggestions: Make a sky map. Shows the work units as points in the correct position. Shows information about this point. Shows the already studied and interesting areas of the Seti community. Shows how Seti develops. Highlight interesting information in the map. Shows the own workunits on the computer. Allows a history function. Take us into space!! Shows the processing progress and instant seti performance of the calculator and so on and so forth. Further suggestions are gladly accepted HERE! |

That's what the Add-Ons do. |

That's what the Add-Ons do. no, they don't. Addons is something for specialists. we are looking for a new and attractive surface for the seti project. do you have any suggestions? |
