The Cassini mission has ended after 13 years. It was launched in 1997 and reached Saturn in 2004. It made 127 flybys of Saturn and discovered 6 satellites. It successfully landed the Huygens module of the European Space Agency on Titan and found that Enceladus may have an ocean covered by ice, like the Europa satellite of Jupiter. It was deliberately put in a orbit bound to destruction not to contaminate any satellite of Saturn. Cassini was a joint venture of NASA, ESA and the Italian Space Agency. Tullio |

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/space/goodbye-cassini.html Must've been a very emotional moment for the developers and engineers of the spacecraft. I watched the footage live. rOZZ Music Pictures |

I feel that way about some of the famous ships that have been retired and sent to the scrappers. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |
