I have read and printed the NYTimes article on the Eddington expedition. Many USA universities are going to repeat his observations.

Tomorrow August 7 there will be a partial lunar eclipse soon after sunset. I don't know if it will be visible also from America.

Not in the USA, the price we pay for having the full solar eclipse I suppose.

After Eddington's confirmation of General Relativity this theory has received another from the observation of three stars circling the massive black hole Sagittarius A made by the European Southern Observatory Very Large Telescope in Chile. All three orbits follow closely the prediction of General Relativity and not that of Newton's theory. This is another check of Einstein's theory.

Solar eclipse clouded out, here in the northern part of the San Francisco bay area. Looking at some of the larger images on television, of the now partial, waning eclipse, from Madras, Oregon. In the heavily filtered image, one can see a few small sunspots, umbra and penumbra, as well as a large facula (extra bright area on the Sun's surface). All these features are fairly near the center of the solar disk.

I saw it on NASA TV from the GIII aircraft. Two RB57 aircraft are chasing the eclipse at high altitude. They were the UK Canberra reconnaissance planes I saw at Aviano USAF base in Friuli which flew routinely along the borders of the Warsaw Pact nations to record their radar emissions. Now they are on a peace mission.

I got to see it starting at about 90% (maximum here), via special glasses and a protected telescope.

The weather didn't cooperate here in central Florida as it was raining when the partial eclipse here reached it's maximum. It darkened the sky to an early evening brightness. But I watched the TV coverage.

Here's a good one that I took at the moment of totality.

Either that was totality or you blacked out a picture. How could we tell? :) Did you have a telescope with protective covering? Any video?
